    HI

Greta has a terrible rash that's been persistent for about 10 days. It's not a typical diaper rash. At one point it was bleeding in spots  I've cut yo-baby and cheese thinking that was it. She is on regular formula and I BF twice a day - I'm eating dairy again (was off for a while). The rash is not coincident with milk formula or my adding dairy. I don't know what it could be, we haven't added anything new and certainly not anything that's been included in her diet for 10 days. I'm confused.

What does a yeast rash look like? How do I treat it? Should I take her to the doc? I feel silly doing that for a diaper rash, but this is not going away.

    Thanks!

I'd take her. If it is bleeding, and lasted longer than a week, she needs to see a doctor. Good Luck and let us know how she's doing.

Emma gets small spots on her bum that get really red and angry looking and take awhile to go away. The diaper cream won't even stick to them. My brother, who is a pedi, took a look at it a couple months ago and told us to put hydro cortisone ointment (not cream, the cream has alcohol in it and can be more drying) on it before we put on the diaper cream. Cleared it up in a hurry. HTH!

Annalise had this (rash and bleeding) when she was 6 weeks or so. It ended up being yeast. Poor baby. She was given a prescription cream and it went away. I ate plenty of dairy the whole time I exclusively pumped, so I don't think that was it with my DD. I would call the doc for sure :hug99: .

Definitely call the doctor. One of my Mom's coworker's daughter had this type of rash and it did turn out to be a yeast one. It is definitely worth having checked out!
I hope your little one feels better soon!

Both my boys had a yeast rash. At first I tried regular diaper rash cream and that did nothing. A common treatment is antifungal cream which is typically used for athletes foot. I got the Walmart brand for $1.99 and it cleared it up in a few days.

Here's an article on how to tell the difference between a regular rash & yeast rash:

    Yeast Diaper Rash

You should suspect one when your baby's regular diaper rash just isn't getting better and then becomes bright red, with red bumps (satellite lesions) around the genital area.

It sounds a lot like yeast. Have you tried Lotrimin or Monistat on it?

Our ped told me that a yeast rash would be concentrated in the crease between the leg and genital area and would be tiny red dots.

When we had larger dots and bleeding it turned out to be staph and we need antibitoics. I would definately take her in.
