My 3 1/2 Year old daughter ( I know its late) will not BM in the potty. She has no problem going #1 (she even wakes up dry in the morning). but she absolutely refuses to go #2. I do not know what else to do... I need to get a handle on this before the Twins come. I dont need the added stress.. Any Suggestions?????? Please

Of course every child is different but I will tell you what worked for older ds. He REFUSED to poop in the potty but had no problems peeing in the potty. I went to the Dollar Store and bought a ton of toys and "prizes." I put them in this huge bag and told my ds every time he pooped in the potty he could pick out a prize. Once he finally pooped in the potty and realized it wasn't a big deal it was smooth sailing from there. Yes it was a bribe but at least it worked.

I relied heavily on bribery for my girls!
I had to try to train my nephew when he was 3.5. It was really frustrating, so I feel for you.
He could sit on the pot for 20 minutes without going, then go in his diaper/pull-up almost immediately after, when down for a nap. This went on for a couple of months. He & his mom were moving out of our house and I was afraid she wouldn't be able to handle the stress of completing the training (he'd been dry for months by this time).

This may sound gross, but when we were in the bathroom, I folded some tp over my finger and used it to press against his rectum. I told him if he felt it pushing there from the inside, that meant his poopie needed to come out and he should go try to let it. Within a day, he went in the toilet for the first time.

I started a paper chain for him, added a link when he went in the toilet, and promised him a trip to the store when the chain reached the floor. I don't think he ever again went in his pants, though. It was like once he realized the mechanics of it, and the cause and effect, he could do it.

We have also used stickers on a chart posted in the bathroom so each time they went they could see the other stickers. M&M's worked well for a couple of kids. Most of the time I just waited until they were ready(most of the time 3 yrs was the magic age). However, I still have 2 in diapers. The boy twin and younger sister.

Matthew is almost 3 1/2 now and still not interested in potty training. I have tried the candy and toy ideas and even "cool"new super hero underwear. He still couldn't care less. I wish he would just be done with this, but now enough to push him along. He won't stay in diapers forever.

Oh yeah, and watch her diet! Oatmeal for breakfast every day can make her very predictable!

My one son day and night pee trained seemlingly overnight..(.within a couple days at most). Yet it took him over 3 additional months to poop consistently on the potty! It really took alot of patience.

He mainly said that he was afraid because "it hurt". He tends to have more constipation "issues". So I think that made things worst. He got to the point where he started holding back going to avoid it. That's when I started bulking up the fiber in his diet and other food remedies to help keep him regular. That helped. I also continued to give him a steady stream of encouragement and bribes. Really it came down to him being ready. One day he said..."mommy...I'm gonna to poopoo in the potty from now on." And he did...no turning back.

It was such a joyous occasion (for both of us!) :D I think he told everyone he saw (even strangers)...that he was officially potty trained. He also sang that line from the pull-ups commercial.."I'm a big boy now" randomly everyday for about a week.
