Ok so my DD has consistenly woken up about 45 minutes into her naps in the past i've been able to go in put a pacifier in her mouth rub her head for 5 seconds and back to sleep she goes---

BUT the past few days she's waking up anywhere between 30-45 minutes after being put down and she WILL NOT go back to sleep despite being exhausted....

I am currently letting her cio but she is just wailing up there and i don't know if this is the solution.

She goes down for naps and bedtime (and STTN) with no problem not one second of protest but this waking is robbing her of daytime sleep and I can tell she's getting crankier and crankier.

The only other thing to mention is that I think they are both starting to teeth. No noticiable bumps but often cry and are only soothed if I rub their gums could this have to do with her waking up? It's not making her wake up at night why durring the day?

My DS thankfully (so far) does not do this strange waking in the middle of naps-

I have done some reading and know that it's often refferred to as the "45 minute intruder" as babies come out of REM sleep into a more active phase of sleep which I understand and I know I can't keep her from waking but HOW oh HOW do I get her to go BACK TO SLEEP???

if anyone has ANY experience or suggestions Id love to hear it----

    TIA

:hug99: I wish I had some good advice, but I don't. I've used white noise in the girls' room (humidifier), or when they were little like your kiddos, I put them in their swings. :hug99:

4 months was about the same time we started to struggle with the "shorten nap syndrome." They went from sleeping all the time consistenly during the day to wanting to be awake, I am guessing they just got more aware of their surroundings. I did the sleep in crib then they would wake up after about 45 mins and I would put them back in a swing for a bit and they would go back to sleep. Once they were a bit older I started doing a CIO at naps if they had not been asleep all that long and that worked great until they could pull up and see each other.

I have this problem, too. (This is my singleton0> The twins wake her up a lot becasue they are so loud. I have been putting her swing in the bathroom and the fan on to drown out the noise! Sometimes it helps her nap longer. Bad habit...yes! Sanity saver...YES!

I think that's a pretty normal thing at that age. My dd is not quite 3 months and she's started having the same issue after about 3 weeks of taking 2-3 hour naps! Most of the time it's b/c she has a burp. So I get her up, burp her...and try to put her back down. Sometimes that won't work, so instead I move her to her swing.... usually she falls back to sleep and has half her nap in her crib and the other nap in her swing.

My DS is doing the same thing. He gets so tired because his naps are so short and then falls asleep during the next feed. It's driving me nuts. He seems hungry all the time so I am hoping it's a growth spurt or something. I'm not sure if he is teething, they both have started to dribble. lol. Sometimes the only thing that works on him is more food.
Just wanted to say I'm with you and I hope it sorts itself out soon for sanitys sake!!!

Must be the age. My girls are the 45 minute queens, I could seriously set a clock by them <_< ! I don't have any suggestions since I always just get mine up at this point. All I can offer is sympathy and :hug99: , I've been TOLD it gets better, so let's hope!

We are at 6.5 months and both are still waking up after 45mins! They have even dropped their lunch nap of 2 hours down to 45mins and wake up crankt and tired but would not go to sleep. I put them back for a nap after 2 hours as they can't stay awake any longer. I think this may have messed up their night sleeping pattern. They started STTN at 9 weeks and for the last 4 weeks they wake up about twice in the middle of the night!! I'm at my wits end...to the point where i feel cranky all day thanks to lack of sleep!! :nea: :nea:
