Uggh. We have had a cold in our house for what seems like two weeks now. Kalia had a cough for a few days and then Jordyn got the cough a long with a really runny nose and now Kalia (who was better) has the runny nose and cough again. AHH!!

My questions are how do you get rid of the germs?? Do you wash their toys everyday?? What do you use to wash everything?(is bleach okay??) Do you let them play with only washable stuff (like no cloth toys)?? It's impossible to keep them apart so are they going to just keep passing this back and forth?? This is the first time they've been sick and I need to get rid of these germs!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately it goes with the territory of having twins and cold season. Our first real winter was so hard last year. They were always sick. They would be better for a few days and then they would get another cold. I washed down all of the toys I could with antibacterial wipes and would put some of their soft loveys in the wash. Once per my Ped, I put their toys in a bathtub of very dilute bleach to soak for a bit and then rinsed them well with hot water. Sorry they are sick.

Sorry to hear they are sick. I just try to wash hands a lot, I put hand sanitizer on their hands and I wipe their toys down as best I can.

There is no way you can keep them apart. My kids are sick right now too, it is a stomach bug (yuck). I have found that it helps a little to make sure they have seperate things that are just theirs. We keep their blankets in their cribs ( they each have their own), and don't swap, they have their own carseat, and don't swap, and highchairs too. I try to keep an eye on them so they don't swap cups too ( sometimes that one is hard). I also wash my hands a lot! Hope they feel better soon!

I put cloth stuff in the washing machine and hard plastic in the dishwasher on the top rack. You can also wash things down with a santizer cleaner and then rinse with water and air dry. Its so hard and IME nearly impossible to keep from spreading the germs. Like right now Ana is sick and I'm totally expecting Meara to get it in a couple of days.

You aren't doing anything wrong! It's just that time of year. Our family has been hit hard this year as well. Soft toys go in the washer/drier. Plastic toys can either go in the bathtub with a little bleach with a lot of water, or you can run them through the dishwasher.

With yours being so young and putting everything in their mouths, it's nearly impossible to prevent siblings from sharing germs.

Hang in there! I hope they are feeling better soon!

It is just cold season, nothing you can do about it! I would sanitize thier hands whenever they go out but other than that I wouldn't worry. I have never washed my toys  and my two are doing just fine (very rarely sick)!

Thanks so much for the replies! It makes me feel better to know that there is nothing I can do to prevent them from spreading the germs and we just have to ride it out. I did wash all their hard toys today and cloth ones and the cloth toys will not come out again until the germs are gone! Jordyn is doing much better tonight and Kalia seems like she is getting better as well......let's hope this is on the way out!!
