Hi everyone! I hope I can get a few helpful answers.

Okay this is my 5th pregnancy my last on ended in a miscarriage at 11 weeks last February. I found myself pregnant again in the beginning of November this year I am due July 31st by calculation of the beginning of my last menstrual. Well here is my problem I think my OB\GYN is really not doing her job, they moved my due date to July 20th and told me I was wrong on when I got pregnant. Sorry but I am not I keep a very close eye on that, I know exactly when they are coming and how many days apart they are. She still won't listen and then on my last visit she said I am measuring 3 weeks larger and they may move the due date back again. Her nurse did a doppler looking for the heartbeat and she found it first on the left side right up by my breast and keep in mind the baby did not move so she picked it up and started moving it around and found a heartbeat on the left side down by my pelvic. She looked at me really strange like and told the doctor I needed a ultrasound and my doctor refused. This whole pregnancy has been crazy I never had morning sickness before and ended up with all day sickness for weeks and still get nausea at times, I have had severe round ligament pains I've never had before, I've got purple veins all over my body I think that is just weird. I have felt this baby move since the end of my third month and the weird thing is I feel it all over the place at times like at the top on one side and then at the bottom on a different side at the same time. I have had severe heartburn since I got pregnant, they have me on Repliva 21\7 because my iron count went way down when I got pregnant. I believe there may be more than one in there, I had a scan at 17 weeks but the tech stayed mainly at the bottom where they know with a single pregnancy that is where it should be but I have felt crowding up in my ribs since like 15 weeks and I told him that but he didn't listen. they keep saying it is a very large baby but after what happen at my last OB visit I really am starting to go with my own intuition on this. So my question is what do you guys think? could they have missed a second baby? from my symptoms and what my heart is telling me do you believe there is two? Or am I just going insane? I am happy for any babies as long as they are healthy but I am in my 27th week and if there are two I don't want to find I have to deliver in six or seven weeks I am not prepared at all. What should I do?

    Thanks for any replies.

I think its strange that your OB wont take a look with an ultrasound for you! Anyway, this is my first set of twins (and I have two older kids) and I knew something was different right away because of the severe round ligament pains that you are talking about. We didnt know we were having twins until 20 weeks with the ultrasound! So I would definitly push for answers. I also have really bad heartburn that I didnt have before. Just my opinion :D

Wow! I think you should definately ask for another u/s. Although it's not likely, anything is possible!! I didn't find out until my 21 week u/s, that there were 2 in there! By 16 weeks my uterus was already up to my ribs, like you described. I sort of knew by 14 weeks that something was up. Like you I felt kicking everywhere by 20 weeks, high and low. Call and ask for another u/s!

I'm sure anything is possible, but not likely that they could miss a second baby at 17 weeks. Believe me, when you see "them" on u/s there is no way for them to hide or get that far apart by 17 weeks.

If you're uncomfortable with you doc I would check in to changing OBs anyway.

This is my second pregnancy and with this one (the twins) I had morning sickness which i didnt have before. I am way more tired and i got huge fast. I also felt the babies move at 14 weeks which i thought was weird. I didnt find out until 17.5 weeks. I would think about going and getting a second opinion from another OB. This one sounds like a weird story. I hope everything works out okay!!! :hug99:

Absolutely, you need to demand an u/s... my mom experienced the same frustration from doctors...back in that date u/s was not routine. She was very large, they told her that it was a big boy...and if she really wanted an u/s she would have to pay for it herself. Well, she wound up with two small girls. I can't believe that in this day and age a doc wouldn't give you an u/s. If you cannot get your doc to agree it's time to switch doctors. There is no way that they should ever bump back dates that dramatically without the results from an u/s...even if it is just one...if you are large for date and u/s should be done for a growth scan on the baby. My friend did have a large baby and her doctor routinely had her in for growth scans to keep an eye on things. Personally I think that your doctor is being neglegent by not allowing one... that's just plain stupid.

Not sure if it is a singleton or twins, but I would have a BIG problem with a doctor refusing to give me an ultrasound. If you get desperate and have a few extra dollars, you can always get an appointment at one of those 3D ultrasound places.
But, I would drop a doctor that wasn't providing satisfactory care for me.

I totally agree with pp. I think that you should consider dropping a doc that won't give you care. I actually am starting this pg over with a new doc than who delivered my dd because of this reason. I feel that she did not care for me properly and wish I had gone elsewhere earlier. I ended up have a c-section at 42 weeks to deliver my dd because she was 10lbs 1oz. I think a doc could have monitored me better and saved me those last couple of weeks at least. There have been other things....too many to go into. Overall I am sure she is a fine doc but I have lost faith in her. I am going to someone new, my first appt. is next week. I suppose it would be a little scary to change at 27 weeks but you still deserve better care. I would look into another doc. If nothing else push for another u/s. Remember the squeaky wheel gets to grease. Bug them until they give you one to make you stop asking! :D

    Thanks for your thoughts everyone!

I called this afternoon and talked to a different doctor in the same office and told them my concerns and he is willing to do another u\s, but it won't be until may 26th. I am going to see what my hubby thinks about it because he seems a bit curious as well. I also wanted to ask when you get the round ligament pains do they last for hours like a dulling pain almost feels like a dull charlie horse and if I sneeze or cough it hurts even worse. Also I've had that pain down the back of my left leg it gets worse if I sit or stand does anyone get that what do you do to make it better besides laying down? one more thing I have been completely exhausted since I got pregnant and it seems to be getting worse, I hate having to go anywhere because in the middle of driving or shopping I want to just pass out and sleep for the next few hours. Also they moved my appointments over to every 2 weeks at 26 weeks isn't that weird aren't they supposed to move it to every 2 weeks at the middle of the eight month? hhhhhmmmmm don't know what to think anymore. Anyway thank all of you for being there I don't really have any females to talk to around here and this pregnancy has just been a roller coster and I will let everyone know what I find out.

Thank you all for your support---
