Seriously...they are really testing my patience! The 2s were a cake walk compared to the 3s so far. The constant fighting, whining, not listening, just general defiance...UGH! I may have to go and get some happy pills to get through this age! And the sad part is they've only been 3 for a couple of months! The REALLY said part...today was my first day of summer vacation and I'm already ready to go back to work!

Can anyone else sympathize with me?

Yes, I can sympathize. My twins aren't that age yet, but with both of my older girls, it seems 3 was harder than 2. Maybe because they are trying more to become independent and doing things by themselves. My oldest girl's favorite saying for a while was, "No, I will do it!" You'll get through it, Mama. It seems once you get used to one phase or have it under control, then, BAM, something else hits ya!

Ugghhh I couldn't agree more! If it's this bad with one, two must be brutal! It kills me that they can go from this great interesting fun to be with kid to this little monster you just want to lock away. My parents took my 3 yo DD for the night last night because we were having "issues" and it was so nice to have a break. Today she was that great kid again until tonight and bam the monster returns! I know being tired makes it worse but how do you reason with a 3 yo? :icon_eek:

Wait, that is age three behavior? Maybe we skipped the 2's and landed in the 3's here! I hope it gets better! :hug99:

Yup, 3 is tough! I think the best thing to help us through was preschool! One, for the regular break it gave me, and two because they learned to follow directions better. :)

I want to chime in and agree with everyone! It seemed that just a few weeks after turning 3, my girls became defiant, rule-breaking, deaf hoodlums. With an occasional silly grin thrown in.

I have heard that this phase will pass... I'm waiting!

PEOPLE! You have got to stop doing this to me! It seems like for this entire journey I've been on with twins, I keep thinking to myself, "Oh, I can't wait until they're ___ age. ___ age will be so much better and easier!" and then along comes someone with kids at that age to tell me how much worse it is than the age I'm currently at. Happened with 12 months, happened with 18 months, happened with 2 years, and now you're taking away my beautiful dream of making it to the glorious 3 year-old stage? Whay must you take all my hope away?!?!?!?

3 almost killed me, and unlike Sharon's experience, my boys didn't learn to listen better. They are 5.5 and we are still struggling with whining, fighting, and defiance. I call this the BTW phase (bicker, tattle, whine).

for us it seems like the last few months of ALL years has been a killer! We figure out how to minimize the "issues" and all is well, for a while and then WHAM out of the blue we are nearing another (gasp) birthday. I have faith, one day it will get better and I will be sane enough to appreciate it all.

Mine were great at 3. HOWEVER, now that they are 4 they have gotten to the stage of crossing arms, glaring and saying "No!" I don't know why they were so slow to get here. Just to catch me off guard, I suppose...

I remembered the 3s with my last two cousins so I was "ready" when the girls entered this tough stage. The 2s were never difficult, it's the 3 year olds that cause problems. <_< My girls are starting to finally grow out of it as we approach 4 so there is hope!

I can only empathize with a singleton. The 3's were incrediably trying. i think they were worse than the 2's. So I can totally sympathize. I am terrified of what it will be like with 2 of them running around!

Whew! I'm so glad to know that I am not alone in my misery! Up until the boys turned 3, we were actually thinking about having more kids. However, now we're talking about taking permanent measures to prevent that from happening!

Slaton pushed my buttons all day yesterday. When he was about to push my last button, he'd come up and say "Mommy...I yuv you!" or "Mommy...gimme kiss!" Little turd...pushes me right to the edge and then does something like that! :pardon:

You think life with two 2-year olds or 2-3 year olds is bad, try life with two 2-year olds and one 3-year old -- it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am dealing with defiance and arguing from the second I wake up to the second I fall asleep (they do NOT nap at the same time) I am just praying it gets better soon -- 2 more years of this and I will no longer be sane. :p Whatever was God thinking when He decided that 3 babies in 8 months would be good for me?

I agree. I don't think that three was that bad. Once they turned four Kelly started with door slamming when she gets mad and Kaitlyn started back talking. And, they seem to argue with each other more. Every kid is different I guess.
