My DH and I are both getting sick of the 'are they natural' question that we are asked constantly. The other day he goes, yes we had them the free way.

I couldn't stop laughing. Nothing against people that need help..but I just thought it was hilarious.

haha! We get that question all the time too. Even now that I'm in the hospital, the staff asks me constantly about the origin of my twins. The first question is always "do twins run in your family?" followed by "were you on fertility treatments?" Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled and think it's fantastic that medicine is able to help people who want to be parents and need help improving the odds. Our very best friends went through IVF due to PCOS and testicular cancer and they are just the best parents I know. It has, however, upped the odds for multiples and, IMO, made twins more common. I find myself educating others on how identicals are "spontaneous" even though it is more common for your body to split the egg after being on fertility drugs for whatever reason, so they can be the result of infertility as well.

I think it's all very interesting and once again, it's left to us mommies to educate the world about our little pumpkins!

Thats a great answer!!! People always ask me if my twins are natural. I always tell them its the opposite of natural because I was on the pill! I'm always looking for something else to say. I always feel bad when people tell me they are going through fertility treatments and what not because I was able to get pregnant so easily and with twins, I just feel horrible!

I love the "Free" answer! I will have to start using it! I also understand feeling bad that I got pregnant so easy with twins when so many people have such a hard time getting pregnant. My SIL miscarried 2 times and finally had a pregnancy stick (3 pregnancies in a year!). She is only 3 weeks ahead of my 40 week due date. Due to this I feel bad about it very often! I know it is all out of our control and I shouldn't feel bad (especially since I am now on my 2nd week in the hospital) but it is hard not to!

My DH has always been partial to the "we had sex twice in one day" answer . . . but I bet he'll like the "free" explanation. Personally, I've always referred to having them the "old fashioned" way.

I guess I've never been taken aback by questions of "how" we got twins, although I understand that some people are sensitive to it (either because it's asking about their sex life, or about their medical issues, that truly are no one else's business).

    LOL that is great!

I am always surprised people ask that question. The 'twins in family' one I kinda get, but I think that question is offensive, if you are not friends/acquainted with someone personally it is none of their business, if we had used fertility treatment I would not want to open up that private a conversation with total strangers.. My husband said, someething along the lines of, what, are some twins UN-natural?

This is my response as well. I always say "as opposed to un-natural"? :pardon:

ETA: All babies are natural no matter how they are conceived. :)

I've been on B/R for a couple of wks now. At my last apt everything was looking really good. I had to go grocery shopping so my sister stayed with the kids and my mom took me to the store.

First, I could not beleive all the people that stopped me. I know Im freakishly big but I should charge money for this show!

Anyway, I got all the same questions, but this one lady really suprised me. For some reason because I was having a large family (she knew I was having a large family because of course she had to ask if I had other kids after the round about questions that lead to me having twins  ) she felt the need to pull out her family photos. Yes, she had a whole book of photos in her purse! She went over all the kids, and grandkids, cousins, husbands, wifes you name it! She was very cute but WOW! It's just craziness!

I like the “Free” answer! And I think I’ll have to use the “We had sex twice in one day” answer as well!
So far when asked if our twins are “natural” I’ve been telling them “No, they are synthetic!”

We also get people asking if twins run in our family. I like to tell them “No, my wife is just an overachiever”

forget free.... anybody notice they charge you for both babies????

In our case we say they are "accidental" twins... yes, we wanted a baby (and had stopped trying because of loss which we really don't share) and oops and WOW we have two.

I'll tell my DH that. How are your babies and wife by the way?
