Again, I was up for an hour with each baby last night. DD woke to eat then fusses for 45 minutes. By the time I finally got her back down DS was ready to eat. He stayed up for 90 minutes like it was day time. My husband made me go back to bed at 5:30 until he had to leave at 6:15. I don't wake them at the same time b/c DS makes it till 5:00 and DD only till 3:00. They were doing fine for a while, eating then going back to sleep. DD's reflux started acting up and DS sleeps till 5:00 so he is just awake. They both wake up for the day at 7:00. When will things level out? I'm ready to get up only once and then be able to go right back to bed. Well I'm really ready for them to sttn, but beggers can't be choosers!! I'm just so tired and frustrated.

I feel your frustration. My boys were great sleepers until about a month ago. Now, they are up every 2-3 hours and the wake up around 4am is usually for an hour. They like yours, think it's daytime. Happy and chatting like crazy. I'm not sure what I can change to try to have fewer wake ups. I have tried feeding a bigger bottle at bedtime, but they won't take it. I have also started to introduce cereal, but I haven't seen much of a difference with that either. I don't enjoy dreading night time, but that is truly where I am now.

    My boys are 5 months.

You probably still have a little while before things get better. (I'm sorry to say that) I did feed both at the same time even if it meant waking one as over the long run, it made things easier and gave me bigger chunks of sleeping time. If you feed one at 3 and get back to sleep by 3:45 then you have to wake at 5, where as if you feed them at 3 and 3:30 you are asleep by 4:15 or so and get to sleep for a longer chunk of time...at least 2 hours? I did find that I felt better when I got larger chunks of time to sleep.

    Good luck, it's not easy.

Reflux will be at peak from 4-6months. Things won't get better until after 6 months. 4-6 months, we constantly dealed with problems: teething, so needing, crying, sceaming,..it just got better the past couple weeks. be patience!!!3.5 months is wayyyy to early to ask for getting better. You can do it!!!

I feel your pain. My girls have reflux as well. I know everyone says it will get better but it so hard to see the light when you are sleep deprived. We got rid of one of the middle of the night feedings last thursday and they slept so well for three days. They are back to not sleeping well at all and are constantly waking up. We finally gave in at 430 am and put them in their swings and they finally went back to sleep.

I too woke one to eat when the other woke. It helped get them on the same schedule. Granted mine did not have reflux tho...

And that fact that you said one was up for 90min - our bodies work on 90min cycles - we are receptive to sleep every 90min (based on a book by Polly Moore called the 90min Baby Sleep Program. So it makes sense that he was awake for 90min...

I would also put them on the same feeding schedule too... if you can feed both at the same time (or at least in quick succession) then you can get back to bed. The kids will get used to being on the same schedule if you're consistent with it and it's very important that you get some rest too! Hang in there.. you're in the worst of it, but before you know it they'll be starting to lengthen out the times between feedings and sleeping longer. Different challenges come after that, but at least you'll have the time to sleep at night and feel fresher during the day. :youcandoit:
