my LOs drink NOTHING in the way of milk unless it's first thing in the am in their boppies or to go to bed.
i've eliminated the afternoon milk and replaced it with a sippy but they take a sip and throw their cups off their highchairs.

Do they drink water and/or juice in their sippies? After 1 year, milk is just for hydration and calcium. You can get your LOs calcium through yogurt, cheese, smoothies, etc. (even ice cream!), and hydration can come from plain water.

Be patient and keep offering milk; this is probably just a phase that will pass. But some kids *never* like milk (even sweetened with a bit of syrup), and they grow up perfectly healthy!

TY! i thought they *had* to have milk. they drink their 6oz sippy in the am when they first get up. one LO refuses to have it in a sippy right now but the other one is drinking it. and when they go to bed, i give them 6oz bottles of warmed milk. for the rest of the day i give them milk, juice/water and water in their sippies.

HERE is a pretty good article (with references even!) about toddler nutrition. Milk is a really good source of calcium and fat, but the article says that American Academy of Pediatrics says 16 ounces of milk per day is sufficient. I've read a lot more about how *limiting* milk to no more than 24 ounces per day is important because they can drink too much! I would call your ped and ask what his/her recommendation is, but it sounds like your LOs are getting about 12 ounces, which isn't too much below the AAP guidelines. Just make sure it's whole milk, and if they don't love it, give them lots of full fat, calcium-rich foods and extra water! :)

I give them a fully sippy in the morning and at night with dinner. My dd loves milk and would drink it all day long if I let her..
but for ds, who drinks less, I often make a "milkshake" of milk, banana and apple and he gulps that down!

I agree with what Valerie said. It sounds like they are starting off good with milk. Just supplement with other dairy products and give it time, you will see their milk intake go up some more. Good luck!

Yep, it will be fine... mine only drank 6-10 oz/day for about 3 weeks. Now I'd have to guess they drink 12-18oz/day. My PED said any amount 8-24 oz was fine. One likes yogurt so he gets plenty that way... and they both like cheese so at least it's something!
