my skin is driving me crazy! my belly and legs itch so bad. i was up for an hour last night, trying not to scratch!

i can't seem to find anything that will soothe my heartburn. it laughs at zantac! tums are as effective as a breath mint. and there is no rhyme or reason for getting it. some days i have it all day, others not until evening.

my pregnany waddle has turned to a lumber. i am now lumbering across the room, rather than walking or waddling. and that's when i can walk. i have terrible round ligament (i think) pain and sometimes walking is so painful, i just don't get up!

a full night's sleep is a memory. between the itching and the heartburn and the frequent bathroom trips, i feel like i haven't slept for more than two hours in weeks.

thanks for letting me vent. no one could understand this. i couldn't understand it if i weren't carrying twins. when i was 35 weeks pg with my dd, i was still bouncing around and active.

I get rashes for EVERYTHING and so I know the desperation you feel about trying not to scratch. Make sure you are WELL moisturized, that helps a great deal! Some say vinegar helps, but I don't know if it helps with itching that isn't rashy. Ice works wonder for me and it may help, and last resort if your OBGYN agrees - could be benadryl which will not only knock you out and give you some SLEEP, but calm the itch.

As for heartburn, something my family has discovered is magnesium and calcium (calcium helps with sleep as well) but good old ice cream is a savior when it's in small amounts (1/4 c for instance) or even some milk (but lately that hasn't been as effective as ice cream or my magnesium/calcium supplement. There is a limit to how much calcium and magnesium though so be sure to ask your dr. about it. I think it's 333 mg of calcium carbonate and 1333 mg of magnesium oxide 3x's a day is what's recommended for pregnant women in general. your doctor may eventually want to put you on IV medications...

Ok. so you may not have been asking for any help or advice. lol Congrats on reaching 35 weeks! The average week for twin births (so my OB says) is 34! And you must not have GD or Pre-e, do you? I am hoping I can stave those off for as long as possible! Just two more reasons for inpatienting, bed rest, and induction/c-section. I really feel for you, I get so grumpy and irritable and just like a big baby myself when I'm all itchy and it doesn't go away and there is nothing else to do.

i have had no complications at all, so i try not to complain, but i'm just coming off a bad week and a bad nights' sleep. i have been so blessed, first with being pregnant with twins and also because we're all healthy, and ai m really grateful for that.

Yes, please vent away. My biggest complaint during this pg has been a lack of energy. However, the third trimester has been the worst ever. This last week has been especially noticable. And, yes, unless someone were carrying twins, they would not get it.

I just wanted to say you are doing so great being at 35 weeks :D :hug99:

I'm at 29 weeks and have recently realized that I may actually get MORE sleep once these boys arrive then I do now! I have not had any sort of proper sleep at all in the last week. I pee all the time and feel just ginormous! My back constantly aches and my shoulders hurt from having to always lay on my side.

I can't even imagine what I'll feel like in 6 more weeks. I'm jealous of you...being so much closer to the end of your twin pregnancy!

And I agree, I don't think anyone who hasn't carried twins could possible understand.

You have just described the past 2 weeks of my life to a T.

I have the itching and it is insane. I would ask the dr. but my dr. told me to take benadryl by mouth and not only has that helped with the itching but has also helped me with the sleeping. And keep the skin moisturized with lotion or calamine lotion. Oh and an oatmeal body wash like Aveeno seems to help too!

My heartburn has been so much better since I took Pepcid at night 2 hours before bed since it lasts 24 hours. I have been able to eat and drink a few things that I couldn't before (even bananas were giving me heartburn)

The walking is the worst. The more I lie around though the worse the pain is when I get up so I try to walk around the house for a few mintues every hour or so. That seems to help some.

Hang in there, we only have a few more weeks to go!

Have you tried whole milk or vanilla ice cream for the heartburn??... It was the ONLY thing that worked for me...albeit temporarily....but I had days with the twins where from my first bite of food in the morning until my last bite at night I would have heartburn. I think it was the main reason I didn't gain much... I just hated to eat b/c it was so painful...I had to "chase" every bite with whole milk...or with a few bites of vanilla ice cream. Anything chocolate would set it off big time...

You are doing it! 35 weeks is a huge accomplishment! WTG! I know it is hard... I went 38 weeks and those last few weeks were agony. :hug99:

I know what you mean. I think the agony is nature's way of getting you past the fear of having the babies. You are so miserable toward the end that you'll do anything to have them; c/s, vag WHATEVER! Just get these babies out!

Hang in there, you're almost done and you've done a great job!

I know how you feel but have to say there is light at the end of the tunnel. Also, I haven't been that bothered by the sleepless nights and late night feedings with my girls because even with all of that, I am still getting more sleep than I did the last months of my pregnancy. I just remind myself of that daily and am thrilled to not be in any pain like I was while pregnant and it makes it all seem okay!! It will be over before you know it and will be a distant memory. For now, I wish there was something to make you feel better but there isn't.

I still remember the itching. I also had the most incredible pains all along the right/bottom side of my ribcage-but this was the whole pregnancy. Do you have a support belt? I do not mean those awful things you can buy from a retail store. After I had my twins my DR prescribed a full abdominal/back support meant to help with the tummy since the babies were no longer there. All I kept thinking was "man I wish I had this before" I would get soo tired from hauling the babies around I imagine the support would have been wonderful. She/Dr kept asking if I needed one but I kept thinkig she meant the little strip things that actually hurt for me!

Anyway, congrats on making it so far. I/we made it until a week before our original due date. I was so ready at 34 weeks though!

Try to get some sleep, I know it is elusive, but it does not happen for a while after they arrive. Even with the best of others intentions. it seems that if you are in the house and they cry/whimper what ever, you will wake up. at least I did And still do and they are Three!

the itching was nasty - a friend of mine had an Avon product lotion that would literally put the itch out in seconds flat...I remember it was in a white bottle with blue lettering (I know thats not very helpful)...

as for heartburn I found 2 150 mg Zantac's a day (one in the morning and at bedtime) coupled with 2 Gaviscon and a glass of water (to activate the Gaviscon better) helped my heartburn tremendously!

    you're almost there!!

Towards the end.. All i could do was complain. Everything itched and i couldnt even get out of bed... But just remember that you are so close to the end and looking at the babies will make it all worth while!!

My heartburn wasn't quite that bad during the end of my pregnancy. But it was at other times. I ate Tums like candy. As for the itching, my stomach still itches. Mostly the strechmarks and the scars. My babies were taken by csection on Jan 25th and my due date was Feb 28th, so I probably just missed the last couple of weeks of misery. All I can say is you are so close to the end now you can do this. The best part is just a few steps away! If you can get through a twin pregnancy you can do anything!!!!!!

I am actually in awe of you and those who make it as far as you have!! And no complications!! WOW! I'm only 21 and I'm dreading sooooo much of the future (thanks girls... lol) but the longer you keep them in, the sooner they come home with you!

I can't wait to see your babies' pics and your birth story when they arrive!

Hang in there! You are almost done and once those babies are here-it will be all worth it! My aunt had fraternal twins and had the worst itching and the minute she delivered-it stopped!
I agree walking is no fun anymore-getting out of bed or off a couch is torture! My HB comes and goes and tums seems to be helping me for now...good luck!

My doctor gave me a prescription to stop the itch at about 35 weeks I had really bad itching and was tested for Chloestasis but I was fine so considering I went until 39weeks I don't know what I would have done with out that perscription. I don't remember what it was called but I am sure if you ask they will know.
