I just LOVE helping twin moms bf:)

I am the bfing support chair for my local MOMS group and try in as many ways possible to help pg, bfing and pumping twin moms. I got a call about 2 weeks ago from a new mom who had one twin who would bf and one who would suck for a sec or two and thats it. So she was bfing, pumping and bottle feeding and as we all know slowly going mad :blink:
I talked her thru several things and then to visit her and show her how to use the EZ-2 pillow I was loaning her. Things were going great. Then her dh came down with strep and pinkeye and could not touch the babies!!! She resorted to using bottles alot for about 3 days. She then called me in tears to say she thinks she has done a terrible wrong and cannot recover as the babies will now not bf.
I spoke with her for about an hour and calmed her down, told her how YES she CAN do this. She said ok to a nursing marathon with NO bottles reluctatly. She called me last night to say SUCCESS. The first 2 hrs were horrible, everyone was crying, then the babies gave in :banana:
They nursed FREQUENTLY for about 12hrs and then slept for 4hrs :banana: And now are back to bfing every 2-3hrs and mom is thrilled!!!

She said she is so happy to not have to pump, that she can go places and know she is safe, she can just whip out a boob

I am always so happy when it happens this way, and so far I have about 90% success with the moms who contact me and just get so happy when I think about them providing breastmilk to thier babies!!!!

 

As a new mom myself, I know your efforts are greatly appreciated! BF twins is much more challenging than I anticipated...and I did quite a bit of reading/researching to prepare myself for the task.

Good for you for helping out new moms...you are doing such a good deed!!!

 

can you come over to my place i would LOVE to have some more help i think the LC has seen me since day 1 at the hospital ^_^

Oh, and I forgot to add she also called an LC once day when I was working and couldn't get ahold of me, the LC told her not to stress, just give bottles and the babies will get it one day.....WHAT?????????!!!!!!!! That since she has twins it is normal to not be able to bf and have to pump....IDIOT!

That is so great. That is so hard to do, I can't stand the crying for that long, I feel bad and cave. Congrats to both of you!!!!

Honestly, these stories make me want to cry because I can remember how overwhelmed I was at her stage. You helped me too! Although, I didn't get the house call - what's up with that? :huh:

It's such an incredible gift you are giving to that mom and those babies!

You are so awesome! Thanks for supporting all us twin breastfeeding mommies here! Way to go!

 

It's great you do this. I hope to find someone as supportive as you when I have my babies. I've nursed two single kids, but both were full-term. I know mine will be NICU babies because of the mono mono diagnosis. I don't know how to do this exactly, but I'm praying that I will find someone knowledgable that helps like you do. I'm sure the other mothers are very appreciative, even if they don't tell you that. Keep helping others.

 

Kristi, you rock my world! I am just amazed at your generosity in helping moms BF, both IRL and here on TS. :bow2: Think of all the babies who have you to thank for helping their moms figure out how to make it work!
