One of my LO's does not want to sleep in his crib. Both boys are STTN, but one hates his crib. We give them a bottle about 10pm and then get them to sleep and put them each in their own crib with sleep positioners. One will sleep through the night, but the other will sleep for about an hour and then starts grunting and thrashing his legs. This wakes him up and he starts screaming. When I go in to pick him up he immediately falls back asleep in my arms. I then put him down back in the crib and he sleeps for about 5 minutes and then starts the whole thrashing, grunting, and screaming again. I did this about 5 times last night before finally putting him in his swing. The past week we have had to end up putting him the swing because he won't last the night in his crib. He started out sleeping until 3:30a or 4:30a in the crib, but now we barely make it to midnight! I just don't know what else to do!!!

I think you either have to ride it out and it will get better or let him sleep in the swing. We let ours sleep in their swings and bouncies until they were about 3-4 months and then went cold turkey into the crib without issue. I am not saying there wasnt an adjustment period but it wasnt long.

Have you tried swaddling him really tight? That would keep him from thrashing around. Just a thought.

We had the same trouble. They slept in their swings/bouncers/infant carriers until 3/4 months too. To start the transition I bought a crib wedge and it helped a little. Maybe try it w/out the sleep positioner? My boys hated that thing!

I'm assuming he's too old/big for full swaddle but try swaddling his lower half.

I let them sleep wherever worked for them until they were 3 or 4 months old as well. Then we made the transition without too much trouble.

I would suggest swaddling (if you aren't) This helped my dd tremendously. :good:

We followed Happiest baby on the block-
    1. swaddling
    2. white noise
    3. side lying
    4. jiggling
etc. (there were more its a 5 step thing, I just cant remember!).

We were swaddling until a couple of weeks ago, he will pick up his whole lower body and raise it up like he has gas. We start him out on his side in the sleep positioner, but through the night he somehow moves to his back.

When using the swing, do you turn it on?? We have been, but are going through batteries like crazy!!

Do what ever it takes at this point. I think a lot of us struggled with this one because we just assumed the crib is where they "should" sleep. One of mine suffered from bad reflux and basically slept in her car seat for the first 3-4 months. My other DD took most of her naps in her swing, we also went through a lot of batteries!:)
