So, I get home from work yesterday and there are two post cards sitting on my table that say "Welcome to Kindergarten". We have a meeting to meet the girls J.K teacher (Junion Kindergarten - they start 2 days a week at age 4 in Canada) on Monday. This woman hand-wrote the girls each a post card telling them she is looking forward to meeting them and how much fun they're going to have at school. I am soooo impressed with everything about their school. They also just put in a new kiss n' ride circle where you pull up and volunteers from the Grade 6 class help your children out of the car and escort them to their classroom. I just can't get over how this teacher took the time and energy (and her own money no doubt) to do this. I'm anxious about this transition, but now I know they'll be in good hands. :D

Sounds great! I'm sure the transition will go smooth for everybody.

PS. I received a handwritten note from my Kindergarten teacher! I still have it!

As a kindergarten teacher myself, your excitement and appreciation is so welcoming and wonderful to hear. Your daughter's J.Kinder teacher is lucky to have you as a parent in her class! Best of luck to you all!

Aw, I loved Dave's kindergarten teacher too. I seriously wanted to take her home with me! I forbid her from leaving until the boys were done with Kindergarten. ;)

I'm so happy that your teacher sounds as neat as Dave's was!

That was very nice of her and I'm sure your girls loved to get them. As a former teacher myself, it is nice to hear that parents appreciate little things like that.

My girls' pre-K teacher did the same thing. We got the postcards one week before school. What I especially loved is that they each got their own card and they each said something different. She took her time and really personalized each one. They were so excited to get them.

It's wonderful when that extra effort is made. To all of our teachers on TS - Thank you!
