Ok so I have the play yard and the playpen in the living room. One will nap in the crib in their room and one will nap in the playpen until we can bring the other crib down. I can't leave either alone in the playpen because they have figured out how to scale the side, although they do not know how to get their leg over yet to get over so I am afraid they will fall on their heads on the wood floor. This morning I went down to do laundry and they were both in the playyard, there is Kyle his feet are at the top row of the panels his hands are on the very top and he is all hunched up about to climb onto the end table . Cami has gotten part way up but never this far. So now I need to figure out where I can safely contain them if I need to do something. Any ideas????

The other issue I am having is that they have figured out how to push the playyard away from the couch so they can crawl in between the couch and the end table, they can then access the cable box, and all of the wiring. I really don't have anywhere else to locate them . Today they went back there several times and I had to fish them out. Kyle was playing with other toys, Cami went back there so I went to get her before she got too far and went to back up, not realizing Kyle had followed me so I tryed to avoid stepping on him  and ended up falling over with Cami who ended up bonking her head on the floor :( . I ended up with two screaming babies!!!! My little toe and my ankle are sore now from twisting around.

It has not been a good day!!!!!

so sorry to hear about all the owwies......I completely understand about the underfoot. I almost stepped on Beckett today he had gotten behind me and I didn't realize while I was making bottles. I turned around and there he was and so I had to do some quick manuevering, luckily all I was holding was bottles. I wish I could tell you the perfect thing to try. I don't know either. I have the same problems. I only get to do things away from them while they are sleeping. They still can play in their room at this point with the baby gate adn don't bother it for about 15-20 minutes. After that they are knocking it down. This is when I vacuum....LOL>.

    Good luck!

I am having an issue with monkeys too. We have gates to keep them in "kid proof rooms", however, yesterday I walked in to find Ayden sitting on top of the dining room table. I guess my rooms aren't so kid proof after all  . No advice though, sorry!

Yikes! So sorry to hear about your rough day.

Around that age, we installed a series of gates in our house to try to slow them down and confine them when necessary. It worked for quite awhile - we just took them down a month or so ago.

Sounds like a day at my house
I wish I had better ideas for you but I don't. The way our house is set up, we have our superyard gate beginning behind the couch and it blocks the small space where they can get out to climb the steps . I don't mind them climbing the steps but I want them to do it with an adult around. What I do to contain them is put them in their high chair with books and toys to keep them occupied while I do stuff. That usually gives me 30 min to an hour sometimes. Good luck!

 That age is very challenging. They have some skills but NO sense of danger. I would re-evaluate your 'toddler-proofed' rooms and make some changes. Eventually you can go back to living like normal people with cable boxes and wires, etc, but right now you might have to be creative about hiding them. From 12-19 months we have the play yard, cardboard in front of the TV, with the exersaucer and some other old baby toys in front of that. It wasn't pretty but as least it kept them away from things they shouldn't be playing with. GL and
