Webkinz have just hit at my school. The grade 5s have done this really cute magazine all about them and everyone brings one to school. This week I'm doing Webkinz/pets as my theme. :D

Today one of the girls asked me when I was going to bring mine in and I said I didn't have one. She looked at me and said "I'm surprised, you usually have everything cool right when it first comes out".

We had to console ourselves by playing High School Musical UNO while listening to High School Musical 2 CD and singing into this really cool big pen microphone I found.

I do like to keep up with whats going on ya know. ;) Last week the Music/French/Drama teacher came to me because she heard I had the inside track on HSM. Everyone this year said their favourite songs were HSM and HSM2 and she had no idea (her kids are 1 and 3) and someone told her to "go see Kendra, she knows everything". I loaned her the HSM1 soundtrack.

You are so cool Kendra! B) Webkinz are huge(still) down here! They keep coming out with new things too. Hannah is currently into the charms. Have fun with your theme this week!

I hear about Webkinz from my two nieces when I visit back home--but I had never heard about them here. I think my kids are just past that age (and my youngest two are boys).

P.S. Now THAT"S (being "cool") a reputation I would love to have...but alas never will! Way to go, Kendra!

Renee, I think it is more that they are older than that they are boys. My boys love their Webkinz, have 5 each and want more!

WTG Kendra for being so hip :D

Well, if you're going to have a reputation, Kendra, I'm glad it's as a "pop culture queen!"
I've never heard of Webkinz and I just asked my 9 year old girls and they've never heard of them either. Perhaps it's a Canadian thing so far?

Sigh Kathryn, ;) Webkinz are stuffed animals from Ganz that come with a code and you can play games with them online. I first heard about them here from Craig when his boys got into thim.

The charms haven't come out here yet I don't think. At least the magazine the girls made said they "aren't at Heritage Square at the mall yet" (the ultimate source for Webkins info)

Oh, well I'll keep watch for them at the stores, then when my girls or their friends "get into them" I'll be the one "in the know!" ;)

Nope, not just Canadian. I'm in the US and they are HUGE here. DD got one for Christmas last year, and DS bought himself one shortly thereafter. Literally EVERY child in their class has at least one, if not a dozen, and I tried to buy them each one for their birthday, but every store was out of stock for weeks ahead of time. The kids reported that one child's mother stopped into school last year to give her DD the one that had arrived in the mail from eBay. Smack dab in the middle of math class.

For a while, stores around here had waiting lists going, though there seems to be a supply of them again now.

Some of the retired ones are going for very, very big bucks on eBay.

One of my boys offered to loan me one of his for the PA day (teacher inservice) tomorrow so I can learn all about them before I buy my own. I said it was ok, I'll survive. (he is a sweetheart)

They are actually a good deal. About $15 for the animal and you get a years play online. Of course, multiply that by 15-20 then thats a good chunck of change.

I do so like to be cool. Today I was buying kitter litter at WalMart and across the aisle they had an endcap of HSM stuff and they had a CD with just "What Time Is It" on it and you can put it in your computer to get a video of "What Time Is It". BEST THING EVER. Our kid computer isn't internet connected though so we can't do what the online content is. (and we can't play webkinz at day care..... the hardships!)

I have a Webkinz now. :D I got the white poodle. The kids gave tons of suggestions for names, mostly centred on the white animal theme. I think I'm going with FeeVee, short for French Vanilla.

I was also interviewed for the kids Webkinz magazine. The one question was "what do you think of Webkinz magazine?" and I said "Its a great literacy activitiy and shows a great deal of imaginitive play". She gave me the notebook and asked me to write it. ;)

The charms aren't out here yet. Hmmmm if I can get my hands on one I would be the coolest ever..... Connie and Brandon are going to the US on Sunday....... :D

That's one of the ones DD has, though I think she has a Lilkinz poodle (party favor from a classmate's birthday party). DD named hers Sophie.

Hey Kendra, if Connie can't get you a charm let me know. I'll see what I can do to get one for you. I two Webkinz crazed girls, and they would love to help pick one out just for you.

The charms are out here now so I got one. My wrist is a tad big for the bracelets so I use it as a zipper pull. ;) I've also got a panda Lil'Kinz. His name is KeMi. (for KEndra MIllar)

I can't seem to find the charms around here at all!

My dd has 2 (white terrier and beagle) my ds has 5 (Dalmatian, frog, lilblack bear, black cat and bulldog)

I hope the charms come out soon because my kids just asked for them for Christmas and the purse too. I guess they found them on the webkinz site. I've not seen them yet.

Anyone else seen the purses? (I guess you can carry around your animals in it.)
