My first question is for those of you whose children took a pacifier, at what age did you start trying to take that from them? We had a hard time with our first son, so I'd really like to do it much sooner with our twins.
Second question is when did you move your children to a regular bed? I'm sure we won't be doing this for at least another year, but I'm curious what other people have done. My first son was about 2.
Finally, if any of you with one year olds wouldn't mind posting what their eating schedule is like I'd love to see it. Also, I'd love to know if you still give them milk first or do you feed them their food first and give them the milk after they eat?
I think it's funny how I have completely forgotten everything (most of it) from my first son! I feel like a new mom all over again! HA! TIA!!

Kyle was the only one who took a pacifier and he stopped needing it at 9 months.

K&K transitioned to beds at age 3.

At one year they were eating pretty much the same as me. They got a cup of milk at breakfast and dinner, water at lunch and anytime they wanted a drink in between. They got their drinks with meals in sippies and drank as they wanted.

Mine are 2 and we took the pacifiers away a few weeks after their bday. They were only getting them in the cribs, but the dentist said they had to go. We did it cold turkey and went to the toy store and traded them for a new Thomas train. It took them about 4 days to adjust to napping without it.

Mine are still in cribs and I'm hoping to keep them in cribs until at least 2.5 maybe 3 years old.

Once mine started drinking milk from a sippy cup I just gave them their milk with meals and snacks.

I can't answer the first two questions (they gave up their pacis at 4 months, lucky for us -- and we're nowhere close to moving to beds).

Their eating schedule, more or less, is:

B'fast: 6:30 (they wake up around 5:30 but I don't get them up till 6:15, then straight into the booster seats for breakfast)
    Snack: 9:00
    Lunch: 11:30
    Snack: 3:00
    Dinner: 6:00

On weekends they take a morning nap from about 8:30-9:30, so they have their snack at 9:30/10 and lunch closer to 12.

They get milk with breakfast and dinner. I give them water for snacks & lunch (plus we just leave cups of water out all day whenever they want them), but I think daycare gives them milk for those meals too. They always get their drink in a sippy with the meal. Then at bedtime we offer them their milk again (about 1/2 hour after dinner) in case they want more right before bed.

I love your avatar -- your older son looks so protective.

We gave the paci's up when they truned 21 months and that was about three weeks ago....I cut the nipple so they lost suctioned and It took a good week for them to not ask for it or need it!

The girls are still in cribs and I probably will keep them there until they are almost three.

When ny girls turned one had milk in a sippy with meals and water and juice in between. They ate table food and did great. I hoped that helped!!

Took us a long time to give up the binkies. I won't disclose that one. [IMG]

Moved to big bed at about 2.5 but occasionally still crawl in bed with us.

I can't remember their eating schedule at 1 year, but I can tell you that they had very little interest in food other then cheerios and other fun finger foods. They were breastfed and very content with that...so then they didn't get cow's milk until some time later. I never gave them milk in sippies to lug around the house and get yucky...they got water. Milk at meals only when they got it at all. Prob. didn't do lots of milk till after 2 years when they weaned.

My kids are almost 2 and are still using them. I personally don't have a problem with them, and they help the kids to sleep, so we are in no hurries to drop them (which was okay according to our pedi dentist).

We have not transitioned to beds yet. We will move them as soon as they start escaping (which they have not even thought about yet) or maybe sometime this summer, when I am not working and can help with some sleep training if needed. They will be 2.5 at that point. I'd like to do it sooner, but since we are not having crib issues, I might as well not mess with a good thing.

At one, they were eating three times a day at around 8:00, 12:00 and 5:00pm. We gave them milk in their sippy cups with meals (which they didn't drink much of) and then milk first thing in the mornings and last thing at night. The morning and nighttime milk was in their bottles until around 13 mos, when we quit cold turkey.

I don't remember much about their feeding at 1. But Ryan still uses his paci for sleeping. Not sure when I am going to take it away. We still have them in cribs and I am hoping to keep them there until they figure out how to escape them.

Mine also still have pacifiers. Honestly I wish I would have pulled the plug around 18 months. It seems since then they became even more attached. I am planning on taking the pacifiers in the very near future. Both are sick currently, but as soon as they are feeling better-- we are going to say bye-bye to them.

As for the beds, I plan to put it off as long as possible. Mine do not climb out and have not tried (as far as I know! [IMG]). So we will stick to the cribs for as long as we can. I am hoping we make it to around 3.

With regards to milk, they usually have a sippy cup with milk at every meal. And usually when they ask for milk I give it to them.

We took away the girls' pacifiers when they were just shy of two years old. Kelly was fine with it. Kaitlyn was more attached to hers but we didn't give in and she adjusted to life without one. She had one really rough night and then she was ok.

We moved them to toddler beds when they turned two. Kaitlyn started climbing out of her crib and I knew she would have no part of a crib tent so we opted for toddler beds instead. They stayed in those until they were a little over 3-1/2. They are tall girls and were outgrowing their toddler beds fast.

As far as eating, I remember three meals a day and snacks in between (cheerios, fruit, etc). I think that we gave them milk with their meals and also before bed. Mine clung onto their bottles for a while before giving in to sippy cups.

My 2y-o gave up her paci the day we told her we were expecting her baby brothers. She did it on her own - just walked in her room, collected her pacis, and threw them in the garbage - think she was telling us something?

She crawled out of her crib when she was 15 MONTHS!!! She's been in the daybed version of her crib (convertible) since then. She still sleeps that way but we're probably converting to the double soon.

Pacifiers. I took my dd's away at 6 months. I waited until a year with the boys. Although, I should have much sooner! I honestly believe that Brody would still use one if he could, he's very oral.

Cribs. My dd was in a toddler bed by 14 months, she tried to climb into her crib to take a nap, so we went to buy a bed.
The boys were into twin beds at 16/17 months due to one banging his crib against the wall, and the other being caught as he was trying to climb out!

Feeding schedules It's been too long ago for me to remember what the schedules were, but I can answer that I gave the cereal/food first, then the bottle of milk.

Hi Heather, we took away paci's at 6 months b/c they weren't sleeping at night b/c of the pacis. We are still in cribs.
Most days, we do breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Somedays we do breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. Other days B-L-D-S.
Breakfast 730 oatmeal and milk in sippy cup at the table. Often i give the milk to them while I cook the oatmeal.
9am snack if we have it, cheerios or breakfast bar, sometimes just juice.
1115 lunch, yogurt, sandwich, fruit, milk with meal
3 pm snack, granola bar juice
530 pm dinner, whatever I'm feeding DH, we all have the same thing. sometimes they will have milk 10 min prior to all of us sitting down.
    730 bed.

On Wednesdays, I have to leave at dinner time so I combine afternoon snack and dinner and eat at 415 pm, then have the sitter give a bedtime snack around 630ish.
