I have 3 YEAR OLDS (sniff)

I can finally quit saying, they're "almost" 3 and switch to they are 3. Where did my babies go? And who are these crazy little boys in my house?

They're growing up. The two of them went upstairs yesterday and locked their bedroom door behind them (they love to lock doors). I went up to see what they were getting into and they opened the door when they heard me coming announcing that they were reading books. Sure enough, they each had a book and the boy who hadn't opened the door was sitting and looking at his book. They then proceeded to walk me around and point out all sorts of things they've gotten into trouble doing before and explained that they were NOT doing this and that. "See? That's all Daddy's stuff up there. I'm not climbing up and getting Daddy's stuff down. Daddy would be so mad. See? Leaving stuff in the cabinet. Don't need that stuff, that's for babies." On and on it went. I had to hold back the laughter. I have no delusions that this is the end of making messes for the sake of making messes but it is refreshing that at least they were listening when it seemed they weren't. Of course, that means they were doing things all along that they knew they shouldn't but I suspected as much.

I'll be back with stats tomorrow after their checkup.

Today is their actual birthday. The party is this Saturday because I've been sick and couldn't have managed it last weekend.

We went to storytime this morning and they were given the royal treatment (stand up front with the puppets, wear crowns, have the group sing happy birthday, and they each were presented with a brand new book that they got to check out for the first time bearing a seal that it was donated to the library in honor of their 3rd birthday). We then went to Daddy's office and took him out to lunch. They also got their present from us today and whatever they wanted for dinner... they chose PB&H, mandarin oranges, cherry tomatoes, and a crabapple picked from the tree :lol:

happy birthday and welcome to 3!!! all i have to say is WATCH OUT - my perfect angels have been pulling LOTS of tricks out of their hats since they turned 3. maybe yours have already gotten it all out of their systems by now though(who am i kidding? wishful thinking! :laughing.

please update us on stats and share how the party went!

 

We had the fastest weigh & measure EVER. I know the nurse was distracted because they're switching from paper charts to computers and she's an older gal whose preferences were showing. Anyway, they're both at least 37" tall (the doctor asked her to measure Trent again because she initially said 36 and I watched more closely the second time... she said 37 the second time but it looked like 37.5 to me). Anyway, Trent weighed 29 pounds and Trevor was 28.5. This puts them around the 50th % for height and around the 15th % for weight. Considering they haven't been over the 5th % for weight since they were 6 months old, I was surprised.

They were both thoroughly amused with peeing in a cup and putting it into a cupboard in the wall. Trent was convinced someone was going to drink the pee and that's why he was putting it in a cup and he wouldn't hear of any other explanation :rotflmbo:

We filled out the "Ages & Stages, 36 months" questionairre and I told the doctor we needed a harder test because they can do all of the stuff that was on there plus lots of things that weren't. I gave her a few examples and she called them precocious little guys and said that those things aren't on the questionairre because they aren't expected until 4-6. So much for DH thinking they're behind! I'm going to relish telling him.

Everything looked good healthwise so we're done until next year other than the flu shot that they'll get mid-October. She mentioned they'll be offering the nasal spray flu vaccine this year if we want that instead of the shot. Has anyone tried it?

 

Omg I keep forgetting that we had our twins on the same day!

We celebrated this past Sunday (my b-day *lol*) because I knew that yesterday would be too hectic with football.
