I get this comment all the time and it's the equivalent of "She looks good for her age". That's like saying, she looks good but not comparable for how good people younger than her look. So, I look good but not as good as moms who just had one baby or women who haven't had kids at all.

I wish people would say "Damn, you look good!" and leave off the second half.

    Hahaha.. just venting!

i complain to DH about this all the time!!! what kind of a stupid comment is that!?!? why can't they just leave it at - you look good? DH says they are just trying to be nice but i think they should be more conscious of what they say... ugh!

It's one of those comments that feels like a hug and a slap in the face, all at the same time!

Totally agree. My husband says I'm being too critical but geez, how many times can you hear that before it starts to irritate you. Try this for a rude conversation I had with a lady in the grocery store:

    Witch: Wow! Twins?
Me: Yes (trying to look in a hurry)
    Witch: How old?
    Me: 3 months
Witch: You look great for having twins!
    Me: <_< thanks
    Witch: Are they yours?
    Me:  yes
Witch: I mean, are you the one that HAD them?

Can you BELIEVE that?! Seconds later I kid you not, a woman walked up to me after hearing our conversations and says to me "I don't know you but I hate you." and just walks off! What the flip is wrong with people?!

I had someone tell me that as well after finding out I had twins. Jeez! Like I did it to piss them off! :blbl:

I get this comment alot too. I don't think people realize the other implication when they say it, but it is still annoying just like all the rest of the comments. I am guilty of making a similar comment, pre-kids. I told a Mom who just had a baby that she looked really good and she didn't even look like she had just been pregnant. Her reply was with some humor, "You wouldn't say that if you saw me without clothes on"
That was enough to get the hint and shut my mouth before I shoved my foot in further.

I get this a lot too....people arguing that I coudn't have been the one to carry them...or that I look good for having two. Ugh. I find myself saying "I carried them in my purse instead of my uterus." Or "Who has time to eat?" A Starbucks worker the other day actually asked me if they were adopted because I was too thin to have had twins.

these people just don't realize the physical excercise that goes into keeping up with 2 babies!

I always get a chuckle out of this comment since we adopted our twins! Especially when we first got them as newborns...hehehee I love having fun with it.

I say this too when I get that comment. Its annoying, but I think people mean it as a compliment.

I get that too!!! Depending on my mood, my response can vary from "Thanks!" all the way to... "But like **** if I hadn't had twins??" :rotflmbo:
