I HATE shoe shopping for the boys

Went to the shoe store and took the kids out of the stroller while we tried things on. The store wasn't crowded at all as it had just opened and we were the only ones there. Nick was content to explore....always going just beyond the row and running back giggling to make sure I was still there. Joe busied himself pulling shoe boxes off the shelves and stacking them on the floor, then replacing them on the shelves.

I quickly found some suitable shoes that might fit them. The sales clerk actually asked me to put them back in the stroller! :icon_eek:  Are you kidding? This was a CHILDREN'S shoe store. "Oh don't worry, I'll make sure the boxes find their way back to the shelf", I told the clerk. She huffed off with a DRAMATIC eye roll. I calmly replaced the shoe boxes Joe had 'sorted' onto the floor and said to the kids, "C'mon boys, let's go somewhere else." and left.

I have half a mind to go back someday when they are feeling especially destructive. <_<

I would call and complain to the manager. That is not right.

Are you kidding? Call the manager and complain.. give a description and the time you were there. No one in their right mind would say that in a children's shoe store. We were in Stride Rite with destructo babies. I was cleaning up when the salesperson came and said that this was part of his job and helped, he even played with the babies for a minute!

That is so wrong. I hate it when you go in a kids store and it is not kid friendly. I take my boys to the Vans store and they ride the skateboards while I get them shoes. The salespeople thing it is funny. It is pretty much an empty store so I think they like the entertainment.

That's so not right - you should ring and complain. We have had a few incidents with my oldest daughter and it makes me so mad!

Obviously she's working in the wrong store. She needs to be in an adult shoe store. Just feel sorry for her that she can't enjoy what is truly a special thing in every normal person's eyes......a happy, creative child!

You did the right thing in leaving without buying something; good for you! That was very rude of the woman.

I agree entirely. That woman seems to have forgotten where she was working.

I guess it was all for a reason. Today I strolled into Famous Footwear, hoping to find something suitable for the boys.

Joe absolutely obliterated the entire toddler shoe aisle with his sorting. When I checked out I told them I had done my best to shelve his 'reoganization", but the entire area was in desperate need of staff attention. They thought it was funny and laughed it off. What a difference!

Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles, I found 2 pair of Buster Browns (a sturdy brand that fits my boys well). I was delighted because it seems I can never find two pair of INSTOCK shoes for the boys at the stame time. I took them up to pay for them and found out they were not only on clearance for $15 a pair, but they had an additional 25% off their clearance prices so I got two new pair of shoes (originally $35 each) for $24! WOO-HOO!

Another RAVE for Famous Footwear....they will ship free to your house anything you buy in-store if they don't have your size in stock. I've done this before when they didn't carry the smaller toddler sizes my boys needed. If they arrive and they don't fit, you can return them back to any FF store too. Here's a link to their clearance online sale (Yikes, I just checked and the shoes I bought are being sold for $10.99 each online!)
