Ds is 3 1/2 years old, we have been trying to potty train off and on for the last year. He just doesnt get it most of the time and he still pees a ton at night and at nap time. Im just fustrated. He did do really good yesterday he went in the potty probably 5 times and then today he pooped in the potty but it seems like he just doesnt want to be bothered with it. Our biggest problem is he is supposed to move out of the church nursury at 3 1/2 but he has to be potty trained to move up. I have tried candy, stickers, telling him he can go to the big kids sunday school, just about everything that is important to him but he just doesnt want to be interupted to go. I have praised him, given him books, an elmo that has his own toilet, water running, books. Im tired of all the comments from people about him not being potty trained too. At this point it seems like his sisters will PT before he does and they are only 15 months. HELP ME PLEASE before I pull out all my hair. Thanks

I went through the same thing for the longest time. It wasn't until my summer break (I teach) that I was able to get them both potty trained. I am a firm believer that getting rid of pull ups was what worked for me. I let them run around without any bottoms on at all for the first few days. We didn't leave the house for almost a week. It didn't take long for them to realize that they were going to make a big mess on the floor unless they went to the potty. I kept a training potty in the livingroom for a while for sudden emergencies. After a couple of days I used underwear, but still no shorts or pants. We had "potty parties" with prizes and I always let them call someone on the phone to brag about using the potty. Before long they were telling me when they had to go every time.

Are you with them during the day? I think I had a hard time for a while because I have 2 different baby sitters during the week and we were all inconsistant. It took me being home to get it done. I hope something I have said will help. Potty training was definitely one of the most difficult things I have had to do. Good luck and remember....This too shall pass...

I am a SAHM so I am here all day long with him. I will have to try not putting anything on when the girls I sit for are on vacation...I dont think their mom would be too happy with my 3 year old running around butt naked LOL. Thanks for the advice

Honestly, Timothy was probably physically ready before I trained him. He just didn't care. What worked for him was putting him in underwear and letting him have accidents. After having the pee run down his leg for a week, he decided I was serious and HE decided that he would start trying. We didn't go much of anywhere for a while, but it was worth it and I'd do it again.
