I guess I overdid it

After our vacation, trying to get back in the swing of homeschooling after being gone 2 weeks, then going to my folks for the weekend, my house was a disaster. We put everything on hold on Monday and the kids and I spent the day cleaning. I never got to the upstairs (bedrooms), but got totally caught up on laundry and dishes and have the downstairs looking lovely. But by Monday night I was really tired feeling lots of braxton hicks. After sitting in the recliner for a bit, my back was really hurting (like back labor I had with my oldest, not like sore muscles) and I realized my belly was tight and pretty much staying tight. All evening it was that way, and I started really stressing. I went to bed and that helped a little, but woke up in pain at about 4am. Again, it was my back, accompanied by BH. Except with my twins, I never had anything other than mild BH until it was time to actually go into labor, certainly not this early. Those of you w/ babies after twins, do you feel like you have to take it easier than before the twins? I've sort of been babying myself since then. I've made meals, done dishes, and switched some laundry, but not done much else besides. I haven't had the intense back ache, but still feel like I'm having more BH than I was.

Wow! You are almost 30 weeks already! I remember when I discovered you were pregnant! :shok:

Have you called your doctor? Drink lots and stay in bed.. good luck!

I agree with Jackie. You need to call the dr. and get checked out. Stay off your feet except maybe to cook some quick meals. You have kids old enough to take care of the laundry moving around, and the dishes. If they don't know how to do these things, might you consider the next couple of weeks "home ec"? You could even make sure Sage knows how to get breakfast and lunch together for everyone including Mom.

Well, to add to my not being able to keep my feet up, I'm thinking Sydney might have broken her arm. Or Trey might have broken it, actually. They were just messing around, but she's really babying it, and even after Motrin and finally calming down (it happened around an hour ago), she won't move it much and really complains when I try to get her to do something w/ it. I called my brother who's a Dr. (wish he didn't live across the country from me), and he said it sounds pretty iffy and I should definitely take her for x-rays. Usually DH could get off to help me with this kind of thing, but he's already getting off early to go care for his Dad for the next 2 days, who just had his hips replaced (his kids are taking turns taking care of him). I'm doing a little better this afternoon, so hopefully the 1/2 hour drive into town, and spending hours in an ER waiting room won't be too much. When it rains it pours!

I had more BH with Becca than I ever did with the twins. They were pretty consistent (every 2-3 minutes), several hours at a time, for 2-3 months. I ended up being induced at 40w5d :) Once that cervix was ripened (cytotec) those "BH" became real contractions. It was weird.

I hope Sydney's arm is OK.

That's good to hear. I ended up being induced after 9 weeks of PTL w/ the girlies, so I know how that can go.

Sydney's arm isn't feeling any better, but x-rays don't seem to show a break. They did say that little kids' x-rays can be hard to read (my brother says that's because of unfused growth plates, so their bones are basically still in a bunch of pieces), and they're sending them out to a radiologist to be read for sure. They didn't sling it or wrap it or anything, so that hopefully she'll start using it... but if she's not by Sunday or so, to get her seen again. She's usually such a wild child, tackling everyone, with more energy than at least 3 of the other kids combined. Makes me sad for her that she's hurting and so "pitiful" looking.

Yeah, dd fell on her arm once and we did the whole clinic thing.. they did wrap it but the x-rays didn't show a break.. fracture or other. They said they might be something.. but can't really see it.

I hope she feels better soon! (you too)

I think I'm having more BH's, and stronger, than with the twins, but I was on bedrest with them. This time I carrying two year olds all the time, and it's definitely wearing on me! My inner thights and crotch (sorry couldn't think of a better word) ache all the time.

I'm definitely slowing down, but have good days and bad...I can't belelive I have 11 weeks left!

Sydney's using her arm a little bit, so that's a good thing. She still can't twist it, like to put her palm up, but she's at least moving the arm and using it a little bit.

Went to the midwife this afternoon and things look and sound great! I love hearing that my tests all came back great, no GD, and my blood pressure is fabulous. Yay!

Oh wow, it sounds like what happened to me a few weeks ago. I'm sure I over did it then too. It started just like your pains ( in my back ) but then they would wrap around my middle and stay tight for a while. It was actually quite painful and lasted most of the day so I called my OB and they told me to go to L&D just to get checked out and make sure I was not dialating. It ended up being my Uterus's long ligament spasming. ( thats what they told me anyway ) They said it is painful when it happens and that I needed to stay off my feet for a few days. ( easier said than done with two other kids that I also homeschool btw :) ) Glad you are ok as well. Hugs
