I guess I am late to jump on the bandwagon...

I guess I never really paid attention to the hype surrounding PVC in our kids cups and such. But in another thread recommending sippy cups I went online to find a picture of my beloved Playtex sippys to find a huge warning that they contain PVC! I feel like a bad mommy subjecting my kids to dangerous chemicals. Gosh, just about all of my sippy's are playtex with some Gerber and some Avent (that I hate). I haven't researched all of them...but I am thinking that I might have to toss them.

What did you do? Do you know if your cups are safe? Did you start tossing and purchase new ones that were non-pvc?

I found these online... Born Free. Has anyone used them? They seem expensive...but worth it for the safety of my babies.

Am I overreacting? Are my beloved playtex cups really going to cause my son's to be sterile?? (yes, I read that).

 

If I remember correctly this was a topic back in the first yr boards a while ago about bottles. I have to do some searching but maybe I can find the thread. If I remember correctly most people weren't to concerned about it.

ETA: I can't find that other thread. But it talked more about glass bottles and the inconvenience of them. Not sure if anyone else remembers this. Maybe I was just dreaming it.

I went through my cabinet and I actually don't have many toxic cups. Just my two favorites

I found another website that listed the recycle numbers on the bottoms....1,2,4 & 5 were safe and 3,6 & 7 contained toxins. Just about all of mine were 5's. So I am not as freaked out as I was a bit ago.

 

No prob! Those are also some of my favorite sippies. We don't use them now and I think the ones I'm using are PVC free.
