We went to an antiques festival this weekend I saw this man & woman pulling a wagon w/ 2 beautiful red hair beauties in there. Of course, since I am a twin mom, I can approach her right? I walked up and ask how old they are and tell her that I have 9 month old g/g @ home. I don't think she believed me. She just was like yeah, great & walked away. Maybe she was having a bad day, well :blbl: to her too.

im sure u try to avoid those people just like me lol so mabye thats what she was doing. if not than shes just a wentch lol

This just happened to me last week at the playground. I had my older set with me. The lady acted very uppity, like "how dare you talk to me" :blbl: :blbl: :blbl: :blbl: to her!!!!!

The same thing JUST happened to me about 15 minutes ago!! I was at the park with Dh and we were sitting on a bench with the babies and a twin mom with newborns walked right by us and didn't stop. I even looked right at her and smiled and she totally ignored me.. Oh well :unknw:

I'm probably one of those "just walked away from you" moms. I get really scared when people I don't know try to talk to me. I get this sort of "fight or flight" response to anyone :). One lady cornered me in a mall and started talking about her teenaged twins. I could hear the blood rushing in my ears, but then, since I couldn't move, I started talking to her and she was really nice and had some good advice :). I guess what I'm getting at is they may not be dissing you... just scared of strangers :)

I feel like this happened to me today at the park but with a triplet mom. I simply asked how old they were. She said 2.5 and walked away. I guess i don't have anything in common with a triplet mom. :blbl:

That's sad... I think in this day and age too many people get offended too easily and are not as friendly as we should be.... :blbl: to her..... I never mind it when other twin moms (or other people) come up to me and talk about them.

I have had this happen to me also - twice actually. I always get excited when I see other twins because I feel like we're all in this secret little "club" together. I agree - :blbl: - to them.

You would think she would have been happy to talk to someone with multiples. I would...not many of us where I live that I know of.

I admit that I've probably been kind of stand-offish (is that even a word) towards other moms of twins, but it's 'cuz I don't really know what to say!! I'm really shy when it comes to talking to people I don't know in person. I don't mean to come off as being rude, but my mind just draws a blank! It happened to me this afternoon at the dr's office. There was an older woman sitting there who started talking to me and telling me how either her daughter or her son (she didn't say which) is expecting twins in July... I seriously had no clue what to say to her! I mean, I answered her questions, but I couldn't think of anything else to say to her... I felt so bad!

I have to admit, I did the unthinkable...I dissed a twin mom once. DH and I were at Sam's with the girls and she came up to look at them and said she had twins at home. I wasn't rude, but I did cut the conversation pretty short. I think they were pretty little then, so we got stopped every 5 minutes it seemed so somebody could ooh and ahh over them. I think I just mentally shoved her into the "everyone else" category and tried to get away quickly. I think now I'd be a lot more receptive though. I'm not really a meanie!!

Strange... usually misery loves company! To heck with her Brandy! She lost a chance to talk to one pretty cool twin mom (IMO anyway ;) ).

gosh! when people ask me questions about my girls they probably wish they hadn't!! I'll talk ALL day!! and give details about every day of the whole pregnancy, the birth and the 1st almost 4 months!! and I love to meet other twin moms!! I can't imagine just walking off!!

I was a disser (word?) once. I felt terrible afterwards & was slapping myself in the forehead because I missed a great opportunity. But it was our 1st trip to the dr's office (1 week old) & I was alone. I didn't even realize the other mom had twins...she came up asked me about the girls, I was short but not rude. She was called back later w/her twins...man, oh, man I felt like a real heel!!

Now I welcome all (even the stupid ones) for questions!!

I have probably been a disser at times. I really like talking to the twin moms, but if my boobs are about to explode and we need to get home for a feeding then I would probably stop to talk to Jesus or my late mama. I figure they should understand being on a tight schedule better than anyone.

I've never had my twins out together but once for an appt since my son is on oxygen and monitors, so whenever I say I have twins, I get a similar reaction.

I went to the park yesterday and saw a mom with b/g babies. I passed her once and we looked at each other and smiled. I didn't say anything. When I passed her at the swings (she also had a toddler), I told her that my boy/girl twins were turning one on Wednesday and then asked how old hers were. Her response "I don't know...I think 3 months". I was perplexed by this, so I asked if they were hers (it could have been a nanny, right?) and she said yes!!! How do you not know how old your babies are? At that point, I told her good luck and walked off.

I barely know my name when my twins were that age never mind their age!! Just another perspective...not everybady is as together as the people here seem to be.

I too have been dissed but I think it is definitely stranger anxiety and early stage sleep deprivation!!

I feel the exact same way!!! I love to hear other twin stories!! And I am totally an extrovert and will talk to dang near anyone! so I have probably scared a few moms off!! haha But I am well intentioned!!

Twin moms have every right to shun lay people, but they can't shun each other! We're all in this together! :drinks:

Most of the time other twim moms I meet are great, but I have been shunned by a twin mom on a few occasions. Just recently we went on vacation and there was another twin mom there. We were by them at the pool, even ate at the table next to them, and there was never even a glance in our direction. I suppose she was just totally programmed to tune everything out so that she either didn't notice us, or didn't want to talk.

How funny, I always feel like moms of multiples have an instant bond. I have had pregnant people at Walmart start conversations with me because they are having twins. I welcome the opportunity to talk and I always tell them about this website.

Um, I never know how old the babies are... I have been saying 5 months for three months already. DH corrects me all the time.... :pardon: I blame lack of sleep!
