I cannot play with them without them puking all over me. Today I have had on 4 shirts, completly soaked 4 receiving blankets and changed my sons bob 4 time because it was so drenched it wouldn't absorb any more puke. My daughter had thankfully been sleeping a lot and has only puked a couple of times. My life is one big pukefest. I want to dance with my son and play with him, but all I can do is clean his puke.

He is on 1.8ml of Zantac twice daily and it has helped with his pain greatly. He also has a ton of cereal in his formula. 1tsp. / oz. So he is having between 28 and 35 tsp. of cereal a day.

The doctor said meds will not stop the puking, but something has to be better than this. Last night he emptied the entire contents of his stomach all over him and his sister. By the time we bathed them both, changed the bed linens, re-dressed them for bed and said good night, we were 45 minutes past bedtime.

I really want to play with my babies, but it seems any movement makes them puke. BTW, he just puked on me before I posted this message and he has not eaten in 3 hours. It is not as though he does it right after eating, no he does it constantly all day long.

    Ugggggg

just a question - have they recommended trying different formula? I know my son was a projectile puker and once we went to soy it calmed down a LOT! He sounds like your son could barf at the drop of a hat...I'm sorry about all the barf - its no fun!

Sorry about all the puke. We were there too and another option we did was put 2tsp per oz of formula per the Ped GI. That helped us dramatically. Hang in there. I know this is hard but there is a light at the end of the "barf" tunnel.

We are on soy now after trying just about ever type of forumla out there including the ridiculously expensive Alimentum. Nothing made a difference so I went back to soy.

At that point I might as well feed it with a spoon. LOL......... honestly adding the cereal didn't even seem to help him, I wonder if even more cereal would help.

I just want to play with my son and know he still has some food in his tummy!

Reflux is awful! :hug99: I would add more cereal. I made it really thick...don't remember the exact measurements, but it was at least 2 tsp per oz. We did the best on the soy formula too. :hug99:

:hug99: I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with reflux. How long have they been on the meds? Cauz if its been a while, I would talk to a specialist and see if you can change the meds. My guys had reflux and Pat never really stopped puling occasionally but he didn't projectile anymore once he was on Zantac and Enfamil AR. I would definitely talk to my pedi about it. :hug99:

My oldest was a huge puker all day long. At the 2 month point, I remember I was wearing my last clean pair of (maternity!) pants and while trying to get us out of the house, they got puked all over. I sat in the rocker and cried and cried. I couldn't even get out of the house! My oldest didn't have reflux 'cause the meds did nothing to help the crying or the puking. There was no rhyme or reason to the puking schedule... sometimes 10 minutes after a feed, often an hour or two! After the 6 month point, things got much better.

One of my babies now has been a puker and things are much better now. But she at least was consistently puking within a half an hour after a feeding. She turned the corner around 7 months. When they hit 12 months, I want to get all my carpets shampooed!!!!

I'm sure 6 months seems far away right now, but hang in there! Some babies aren't easy to bond with as babies (like my oldest).

Both of my boys had Acid reflux. But didn't things worked for each baby. We had one on Enfamil AR and Prevacid, my other son was on Soy that was thickened and Prevacid.

The Prevacid really did the trick. Also swiching Hunter to soy really helped. He is allergic to Milk it seems. But we figured this out after 2 months of trying every formula made. What did the trick for us was a month on Alimentum while they were on Prevacid. this seemed to calm everything down. BUt it was just to expensive. so after a few more weeks of trying things we settled on the ER and soy.

now both are on thickened Soy. My life is so much easier now that they are on the same formula. But we only got them on the same formula at 7 months.

just keep trying things until you find what works for your kids.

    I have an update.

Today we went and saw the head of our practice. From now on he is the ONLY Doctor I am willing to accept. He seemed to really listen and want to help me.

He put us on yet another formula ( at least he gave me samples) and a new medication. It is called Axid. Apparently it is like Zantac but tastes better. Sadly, the co-pay is $60 on it and we cannot afford to throw away $60 on something that may not work. He said if it didn't we would try Prevacid starting next week.

He also said Thomas is ready for the exersaucer with some towels to help him from falling over. Too funny....... he seems so young, but he is strong and we will try.

He also said we can do Mylanta 5 times a day, I asked the other Doctor about that just last week and she said NO WAY!

Thanks everyone for being there when I needed you!

Yeah for new meds. Hopefully Axid will do the trick for you. We started with the Zantac and it did nothing so we went to Prevacid and it really, really helped. But I had "Axid" in my hip pocket if that one didnt do it :) I know there are some on this list that have used or used Axid. We also did the Mylanta before every feed. I am not sure if it helped a whole lot but anything to ease the pain--I would give!! I have one still on the Alimentum (which I know you said you tried) and I had one on Enfamil AR for a bit until we got the reflux under control and then I finally just got him to regular Enfamil.

Glad to hear that you can start doing some exersaucer time. Not only is it fun for the babes, but it keeps them upright. I still sometimes use it afer a meal if I think we need some upright time. I hope this helps, reflux is NO fun and it is very frustrating for all involved.
