    OK,

I tried to be tough, but my DD won again. She started crying at 12:30, I put her paci in...Then, more crying every 30 minutes until finally at 2:30am I fed her....I just couldn't do it. I couldn't let her cry. I am so worried that maybe she is really hungry...But, husband just rolls his eyes at me. (She gets enough food!!!)

I need a CIO support group because I just cannot do it. I worried about her all night until I fed her...I am afraid she won't be ok (Can you tell I am sleep deprived and worrying about anything??). My DS is still sick, but getting better...so, I am nervous wreck and just didn't want her to cry, too.

So, finally the question...Do you think she was really hungry because she continually got up and cried? Do I need to let her cry it out even if she is hungry? Help me wise mommies!!

    Thank you!!

    Jen,

I don't think that YOU are ready to do CIO! One of the most important things with the process is to be consistant with it. You will know when it is the right time. You will just feel at peace with it(it's hard to describe), even though it is hard to hear them cry. You have a lot going on anyway, with your son being sick, so I would wait a bit. :hug99:

My understanding of CIO is that all needs have been met and they are just not yet able to self soothe. If she is hungry then all of her needs have not been met so to speak.

Is there a reason why you HAVE to do it? I did it and had success after ten nights. BUT there is another MOT that I know that has not done it and her babies are just fine. Can you wait a little while longer? I agree with Becky, if you want to do it, you need to be ready to. It certainly is hard though.

How long had she been sleeping? Or what time did she go down? I think they don't need to to fed within 6 hours. According to Weissbluth (and he's pretty stricst), some kids do get up once, sometimes twice until 9 months and it's not uncommon (unfortunately). Mine only wake up once after 11 1/2 hours, but they go to bed so early. We don't feed them until 5 am, since they have been sleeping so much longer for such a long time, so anything before is CIO.

My guys are not yet 4 months, so I feed them whenever I suspect they're hungry but that hasn't been more than twice in a 12-hour night for quite a long time. I think I'll probably feed them as required until 9 months (I'm using Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child to guide me). It sounds like you followed your mother's instict, which never leads you too far off course, does it?

Have you tried continuing her feedings but just watering down her formula a little bit more every couple of nights? Once she's getting just water, decrease the amount in the bottle every 1-2 nights and she'll probably start to sleep through. Good luck!

Ali, this sounds like something I would LOVE to try...I feel very comfortable trying this technique.

I knew I count on all of you for great advice!! Gosh, I love you guys...

They go down about 6:30/7 pm after 4 bottles of 6 ounces and 3 meals. Maybe she does still need some food. I only gave her 4 ounces last night, instead of her usual 6 and she made it until 6 am. I could up the amount in her bottle, too. Hmmmmm!
    Thanks so much.
