I gave Elizabeth rice cereal today

Elizabeth has been trying to eat food out of my hand, off my plate, etc. lately, so I decided to let her have some rice cereal today. She was not very impressed! She didn't spit it out, but she wan't slurping it down either! I'm thinking of skipping the cereal stage all together and just going straight to veggies... what do you think? Has anyone else just skipped cereal? Can you do that?

 

We did cereal for under a week. They MUCH preferred food with taste! Sweet potatoes were a big hit first time around. Good luck!

I never did it (first time mom, fed them by the book) but I do have a couple of friends that did.

 

I did it Melissa. My kids didn't like plain cereal, so after one try, we moved on! Good luck!

This is exactly what we did. They LOVED sweet potatoes!

 

I mixed the sweet potatoes with the cereal until we introduced fruits...oh and they liked oatmeal ALOT better than rice!

 

I skipped it with Emma and the boys. No problems here!

 

We skipped the plain infant cereals. I will buy the Organic cereal in the baby food jars that have the fruits mixed in already.

 

The only thing is the cereal is really fortified, and the say BF babies need extra iron after 6 months, so that would be one reason to give the cereal. We mix cereal in with most all the foods we eat....but mine will eat it plain as well so never had that problem...
