Our wonderful nanny is leaving in February to go back to college, so DH and I have spent the last three months looking for a school for our girls. We've researched so many daycares, preschools, Montessoris, Waldorfs, art focused schools, play focused schools, etc, that I feel like an early learning expert. But actually seeing the schools has been difficult. The day cares have been happy to let me tour, but the schools that continue into elementary are hard!

The big Montessori place here doesn't ever answer their phone, the Waldorf school only does open houses twice a year, the private preschool nearby has a 13 kid waiting list, the church basement preschool that our neighbor loved doesn't do tours until they have an opening, and it goes on and on. I've visited four schools and ruled each out for one reason or another. Option 1 doesn't have space on Fridays. DH and I work full time. We need Fridays. Option 2 caters to a low income population and couldn't understand that my girls wouldn't qualify for free lunch. Option 3 would only take them when they're 3, not two months before. Option 4 was wonderful but doesn't have a summer program. I was beginning to lose hope.

However, today I fell in love with a school and promptly turned over my $200 application fee. DH will tour next week to confirm my choice, but he's even more excited than I am that we finally found a good place.

I had to share because I am just so excited. This place is a perfect fit... the hours are exactly what we need (8:30 - 2:30); it's Montessori based, but not strict; the kids all looked happy; the location is awesome - 2 minutes from DH's office and only 15 from our house; they go outside every day; I could go on and on. After two months of looking, I assumed we'd have to settle, but this place is perfect. I could do the happy dance I'm that excited.

    Thanks for letting me share.

Hooray!! I know how hard it is to find the perfect place -- I think I've looked at every school in the Atlanta area, LOL. That's wonderful that you finally found it!

I bet the girls will love going to school. It's so cute to hear them come home and tell you what all their friends did that day. :)
