Thanks so much for this idea. They came out cuter than I imagined...and just in time. Their birthdays are next Thursday!

    Here they are:
    Ashlyn Cover
    SH
    LY
    N and Last page

Everything is the same for Ansley's name except for one letter:

    E

This was such fun to do. Now I can hardly wait to give it to them :)

Those look great!!! I love how you stitched each letter on differently. What a great idea. And all of your pictures look amazing. Did you free-hand them?

Your girls are going to cherish those books! Good job mama!

VERY cute. Can you give me a brief description of how you did this? I am craft-challenged but think they would make great gifts!

    Thanks for all the compliments!!

Diane, basically, I found lettering and coloring book-type images on the internet and printed them out. I had to modify them to fit the size I wanted. There's a heat and bond product that I ironed on to one side of the felt. Then I cut out the shapes and letters. Then, I ironed them onto the book page. Finally, (and definitely the most time consuming) I stitched around all the pictures, letters, and pages. To bind the book, I ran thread through the left side of pages, "catching" the stitches that went around the page.

I wouldn't consider the project hard but very time consuming. I can't remember exactly when I started but I think it was about 8 weeks ago. I am pretty crafty and can sew fast. However, I worked on them most nights for 2-3 hours and spent 8 hours last Tuesday while a friend watched the girls. Remember, though, I made 2 books!!

Let me know if you want more details :)
