Thanks for HSHHC, we've been on a strict schedule for some time now. The boys nap religiously from 10AM-Noon & then from 2pm-4pm & then are in bed from 7pm-7:30ish AM. Some may say I'm blessed but I feel like their asleep more then their awake! If I try to keep them awake any longer or if errands get in the way, it's a total melt down, so you can see my dilemma when I have to work around their schedule. Is this an okay thing at this age?

Yes, I believe it's a totally normal thing and a very healthy thing as well. :good: My kids are still on a more strict sleeping schedule, and I've let go of feeling guilty about it. They are very healthy and happy, and I've noticed that the more sleep they get, the happier they are. They need sleep at this age to grow, when they don't need as much I'm sure they'll let us know. ;) I also found that routine is a key to happy toddlers. Keep on doing what you are doing.

what's quoted in the book are averages--yours are just on the higher end of that average. i say DONT CHANGE A THING! you are so lucky that they are good sleepers. i wish i could say that same about mine (which is why 've read that book.... and 6 others...... boo hooo!).

they won't be young forever--just work around their schedule and keep eveyrone happy!

I agree, work around their schedule. I would love it if right now the boys were down to 1 afternoon nap. We are missing out on play date after play date b/c of their nap schedule. But I know they need the sleep and there will be plenty of time later for play dates.

Mine had the same schedule from 3 months through 16 months when we switched to one nap. That one nap went from 2-4 hours--and was closer to 4 most days. I never read any books on what to do, that was what worked for us. Don't knock it, they are doing great!

They sound like they are doing great! It might seem like they are sleeping a lot (they are!), but they need a lot of sleep at this age. Don't change a thing, it sounds like you are doing a great job!! :)

Sounds like they are doing great! In a couple months they'll drop to one nap and then you can get more errands run :) Until then, don't change a thing!!!

It sounds like they are doing AWESOME! I would not change a thing either. As they get older their sleep needs will change and you'll be able to more flexible with your schedule.
