Okay, for the past three to four weeks, we have at least one night a week where Sophia will wake up, after being asleep for three hours or so, screaming.
Her diaper is usually okay, she is not running a temperature, hard to tell whether she is in pain or not because usually when she is picked up she stops crying. We had another night like this last night. It went on for 3 hours. She did have diaper rash yesterday, so when she woke up we checked that-it actually looked better then what it did before she went to bed. When we would pick her up, she would stop crying and doze off. Soon as we put her down, she would scream again. We finally said, she's going to have to cry herself to sleep. We let her go for 15 minutes when she began crying sharp piercing cries. It sounded like she was in pain. Again we checked her diaper, which was fine. Took her temperature-it was normal. Gave her some Tylenol in case she was really in pain. I read up on ear infections and thought maybe she might have one, one the things the book said was babies with ear infections do not like to be put down because of the change in pressure in the ear, so we put a boppy in her crib. DH walked with her a little bit, said she took a big burp, farted up a storm and went to sleep.
She is happy and smiley this morning like nothing happened!

Is my daughter just playing us for attention? Is there something wrong with her? We are totally at a loss! Has anyone dealt with something like this?

Has she had a cold? Usually ear infects follow a head cold and most of the time if they go untreated she would develop a fever at some point. You can always take her to the Ped and have her checked out to put your mind at ease. She might just be playing you at night??

Thanks for advice ladies! My mom suggested that if it happens again to call the pediatrician. I think that is what I will do. A part of me thinks she is just needing some kind of reassurance, but the other part of me wonders if something is really wrong. Thank you for the hugs too, much needed !!!!

Really need that baby decoder that they featured on the Simpsons!!!!

    Could she be teething?

    Could she be teething?

It's definitely possible! I have not felt any bumps on her gums, but my Mom said apparently I had no bumps either and suddenly teeth popped out. We did use teething tablets yesterday (we pulled out the whole arsenal: teething tablets, tylenol, mylicon) and they did not seem to help her at the moment. They always helped Luke through a rough patch with his teeth.

Calling the pedi. sounds like a good plan. Let us know what he/she says. Hopefully just teething. :hug99: :hug99: :hug99:
