Michael and Mikayla are so cute, but it is frustrating. They are at the point where they want to do everything by themselves. Mikayla's favorite phrase is, "I do it I-SELF!" It is especially frustrating when they want to snap together their car seats. I do the insert at the bottom, but they insist doing the top part that goes across their chest. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry, I will lift them up into our mini-van. BIG MISTAKE there! They start whining loudly, "I do it I-self!!" They crawl down from their carseats and out the door of the mini van, only to climb right back in by THEMSELVES! Ugghhh! Anyone else going through this phase??? One needs the patience of a saint during this time!!! Bridget
Mine do the EXACT same things!!! It doesn't stop at getting into the van though, its also a MUST that they get themselves into their chairs at meal times. Which wouldn't be so bad, but Madison often doesn't want to eat, so she doesn't go willingly when asked and when she does, she is THE pokiest kid around! I finally have to tell her, you have till the count of 3 of Mommy does it for you. Monday, DH was putting together new kitchen cabinets and we were telling her, Daddy's almost done, then you can come into the kitchen. Later, after we were coming up from playing in the basement playroom, while I'm telling her to hurry up and go upstairs (very pokey about that too), she says, "I almost hurrying."

Michael does that too at meal time...he doesn't want to sit at the dinner table and doesn't want to eat what we are eating. He is VERY pokey about getting into the booster seat, and he MUST do it HIMSELF! Too funny! But WAY frustrating! Bridget
My girls are both getting like that. I finally bought them crocs because those are shoes they can put on by themselves. Sienna insists on putting on her own diaper even, I usually have to fix it a little, but she doesn't do a bad job. Guess I should really move ahead with potty training.
