The babies have been cranky with a cold for days now--they are getting better but still have been fussy. Well, I am having an exhausted (found out that I have mono) and over-emotional day today and have been juggling crying babies for hours...finally I put them each in their swing, put on Noggin (a Nickelodeon pre-school channel) and put them in front of the television. I know that tv is supposed to be bad and blah blah blah but I had no choice short of a personal breakdown and screaming 2 month olds. Am I terrible? Have you done this?

OMG! Are you kidding? NO! You aren't terrible! :hug99: You have mono...you poor thing. You need as much rest as you can possibly get! And if that means a few hours of Blues Clues, then so be it! Hang in there, and feel better! :hug99:

Oh my gosh, BEEN THERE DONE THAT! My girls, at eight months, now love Play With Me Sesame as a result. They get to watch it about three times per week for my own sanity. I swore I would not let them watch tv until at least a year. Yep, broke that rule about two months! You are in no way terrible, unless you leave them there all day! ;)

I made the same vow with my kids :). I think I'm probably the worst of the worst though. We bought the baby Einstein videos and what do you know... my kids prefer Stargate. Yeah. Stargate. Hopefully they'll grow up to be little Sam Carters.

Definately been there, done that. When mine got really cranky, Baby Einstein always worked miracles!! You are in no way a horrible mom...especially considering that you have mono and they're sick... you're doing just fine.

Hope you all feel better soon. :hug99: .

Been there, done that. You are not terrible, it was actually a good thing, moms need a break sometimes before we lose it.

You are so NOT the only person that has done this. As pp's have said-- mommies need a few minutes to themselves too. :hug99: Don't beat yourself up over this!

As a matter of fact, today was one of "those" days! They woke up at midnight and didn't want to sleep anymore due to colds...so the tv it was! The most important thing is that you stay sane and get better... I don't think a day or two, here and there will hurt them! Hope you are all doing better soon! :hug99:

BTDT! Sometimes you need to take care of yourself! I'm sure a little Noggin never hurt anybody!

No you are not terrible!!!! It takes a great mom to decide to do what she needs to do to not snap, and to get through the day in one piece. If that means breaking a rule, than so be it. Usually the boys don't watch a lot of TV, but there are definitely days that I owe my sanity to Veggie Tales and Elmo. It is not going to hurt them in small doses. Me freaking out would be the bad thing, and it just isn't worth losing it if there is another option. So turn on the tube and get some rest!!!! Hope you feel better soon. :)

the baby einsteins are great but they do seem to be attracted to the less educational. God, my 4 year old asks me if "Ugly Betty" is on every night.... sometimes I just don't have time to monitor it all..

My thoughts as well. I think having them watch a couple of hours of TV won't hurt them. Also, if your like me, having a little break helps you be a better mom!

I hope you feel better soon! :hug99:

Sometimes, you do what you have to do to survive. It's not like you do this all the time.

Don't feel bad. Twins are tough! And I don't think it'll hurt them for some tv here and there. Heck, matilda loves to watch Daily Show with us!
