Only another twin mom can truly appreciate this milestone: I successfully survived my first trip to the grocery store with the boys and the double stroller. And it wasn't just a quick, small basket trip either--it was a big, monster cart-full of a trip! Declan screamed his head off for the last 15 minutes or so, and they were out of white onions, but otherwise everything went really well!! Woohoo!! [IMG]

    Next up: the mall....

You are a brave woman. [IMG] I know lots of ladies here do it, but I'm too chicken. I wait until the weekend or DH is home to go. Good for you.

I started that about a month ago. I sure does take forever! All I can say is thank god for the pacifier!

With us, it turns into a two cart expedition! We have babies in one cart and the groceries in the other (with the two older kids swarming about!) The longest thing for us is other people wanted to look or talk to me about how many kids I have (like I don't know that I have four kids or something!) Plus, it is an hour to get to the store, thus we are in the car for two hours plus at least two hours in the store! I feel like my own three ring circus! We get to do this tonight!

That's awesome! Good for you! I haven't attempted the grocery store just yet. It's one of the outings I've been avoiding. I think that's great that you did it. The first is always the hardest!

That's awesome! I did it with the first two...not sure I'm ready to attempt all 4.... LOL!!!! I always use two carts, pulling one and pushing the other. Doesn't it feel liberating just to get out by yourself??????

    Way to go [IMG]

Makes you feel good, doesn't it! A whole lot of work though! On my first trip to Wal-Mart I had a manager ask me if I was doing okay. Must not have looked like I was doing as well as I thought! [IMG] I didn't know this but Wal-Mart will have an associate assist you with your shopping for free. I haven't used this yet but may seriously consider just asking if I can drop them off at customer service and pick them up on my way out! Just kidding of course! Congrats!!!

[IMG] WTG! I have developed a method where I put both the carriers and my toddler in the cart [IMG] and stuff groceries around them. I get stopped A LOT!

[IMG] Congrats!!! That is a big milestone for Mommy!!! After reading how many moms felt liberated after their first trip I decided at 2 weeks to do it (Sam's Club) and they were right- and the sooner you do it the less time you have to stress over what the outcome will be. I found that pushing the double stroller and pulling the shopping cart was the best way for me cause the stroller is MUCH easier to control with one hand(seems like I always get a cart that needs a front end alignment)

Feels great doesn't it?! I've never been grocery shopping with our double stroller by myself- too chicken & I have enough trouble steering just a cart! I ended up buying a couple of the Baby Bjorn carriers (one for mom & one for dad) & I put my ds in the Bjorn & put my ds in his carseat in the grocery cart. The worst is how long it takes 'cuz everyone wants to see the babies & ask a million questions!

WTG. I so look foward to getting out of the house with my kids. But besides the twins I also have a 4 and 2 year old.So I am not sure if my first trip will go as great as yours did but I still look foward to trying it out one of these days.

WTG! I remember the fist time I attempted the grocery store with all three kids. I was pushing the double stroller and my son was pushing the basket behind me. I was helping him pull it of course. I have found in easier way to shop with the twins. I leave one twin in the infant carrier and put them in the basket. I put the other twin in a Snugli back pack carrier. I tried it the first time this weekend and it worked out great. We still use the double stroller if we are going to the mall.

don't you hate when you take the hour to pack up your tribe and schlep to the store and they are out of something. i usually order online but about once a week i end up in shoprite. it seems like no matter what i need they are out of something, at this point i take personal offense to it, i think they are trying to test me to see how long it takes for me to snap! WTG!! It does get easier!!! One way that I loved to do as they got a little older was to put the bumbo seat in the back of the cart and one in the snugli...made it go easier! I have never done the "push one and pull the other" I just don't think I am coordinated enough! I also couldn't put one in an infant carrier and set it in the front bc being only 5'2 I can't see over it!

Thanks guys! I should admit that I did not actually do the push stroller-pull cart method--too hard logistically. What I did was put the cart in one of the middle aisles, then made several little forays into the other aisles with the stroller to get what I needed and brought it back to the main cart. So it probably wouldn't have gone so well except that the store was relatively empty! But I would totally recommend this method to others...

    You're my hero!!
I don't go grocery shopping often. Have things delivered about once a week and that works well but I'm definetly inspired to hear your trip to the grocery store went well! I'll be trying some outings on my own with the girls next week so I can use all the success stories I can.
