I can't contain them anymore!

They are bored with the jumparoos and exersaucers..they crawl like maniacs, cruise around the furniture, but it's impossible for me to leave the living room to even pee!! I need to contain them for short amounts of time so I'm comfortable they won't get hurt. THey flock to one another, petting eyes, pulling hair accidentally and crawling on each other til one screams. We have all hardwood floors :( and it makes it so hard. We bought puzzle mats from OneStepAhead and they are great, but they can't cover the whole living room, it's huge! THey are pulling over and climbing on the indoor playard..so what did everyone else do at this stage?
I need to contain one also for 15 min. at a time until I rock the other to sleep with a bottle upstairs...

We use the highchairs for containment sometimes. We also have our spare room that has now become a play room of sorts and we use a baby gate there. We've been through the room so there is nothing of "danger" there...of course, it doesn't prevent the wrestling, eye raking, etc, but I can at least go to the bathroom and stuff and know that they are okay.

Sorry that wasn't of much help.

That's actually a great idea with the separate room, except we don't have one...well, the basement room but it's very very used...hmmm...maybe I can block off a room...at least partially. Thks!

We took everything out of our dining room and turned that into their playroom. It has nothing in it except for a bench, and a big overstuffed chair and LOTS and LOTS of toys! Their bedroom, the kitchen (which has a door), and a hallway are off that room so we just close the bedroom door, close the kitchen door and gated off the hallway and they just crawl around and play in there. It was a good sacrifice to make, we don't entertain anyways. Then if I want to take a shower we have a jumperoo and a pack-n-play in the living room that I put them in.

We have big play yard that is actually opened up to gate off the two door ways to the living room. We baby proofed the whole thing and they can play in there. But since you have hard wood, maybe you can get a play yard to use with the mats and keep it closed. We got ours from one step ahead and its pretty big even when its closed up. I was just thinking I could maybe do that with our dining room or something too...Dh and i will work on it this evening, it's becoming impossible to move. I've never had this problem until now. They are just rockin' this place! They kick my butt o a daily basis! I used to have this so under control and within the past week they've taken over!

Well, we have one under the play yard, but especially my ds- climbs it and screams to get out!! I think I'll try a pack n play and see how that works. Even if he cries, he won't be able to climb it and get out. THey should make those things out of mesh or something they can't climb. They get their toes stuck in it and cry.

Wow.. I'm so sorry they are climbers already... my girls thankfully have not learned to climb it, but they do spend a good portion of their time looking at the handle trying to figure out how to open the gate. Before we got the play yard, I used to grab them both and put them in the pnp's in our bedroom outside the bathroom door so I could pee. I always had to plan my potty trips ahead of time  Hope you find something that works for you. They do make fabric mesh gates (I saw them on one step ahead's website). GL!

Our house is one big open floor plan downstairs = no rooms to block off. When I have to pee I pick them both up and sit them on the floor infront of the open bathroom door. They are completely interested in what I am doing and they actually (for the only time all day) sit still and look at me like I have lost my mind. They will probably be scarred for life but I like another posters idea of just denying to their shrinks that any of this ever occurred :)!

I have a friend who still uses her pnp for times liek that and her daughte is 2. A safe place while mommy has to ... Mine aren't there yet, I can only imagine. My DD is already crawling and crawled out of her bathseat onto her brothers head after only 2 times in the seat. I am sure I will have to start soon for her. Have you tried a bumbo,. SHe can't get out of it (yet) it is on the floor so if she did she doesn't have far to fall but it keeps her contained and her brother safe from mauling:)
