For awhile now, on and off, I've been having trouble breathing, but yesterday and today take the cake! I feel as if I can't get enough air into my lungs and I feel like I'll start hyperventilating soon if I don't. It was so bad yesterday that I was reading a story to DH and I had to stop every couple of sentences to catch my breath! I've also been super tired lately. Should I mention this to my doctor to see if she can do an iron level test or do you think this is normal with twins. I feel like I'm going to start panicking soon if I don't get some freakin' air! :)

I had this.. It lasted thru my pregnancy and for a week after the babies were born. I had Low iron levels but i dont think it had anything to do with the breathing problems. My breathing was so bad that i would walk around for 10 mins and i would feel like i was having a heart attack.. It hurt so bad.. I could barely hold a conversation..

I'm so glad it went away for you. This is one of the worst feelings. I was just reading online that shortness of breath and fatigue were just a couple of the symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia in pregnancy. I don't know if I can handle 13 1/2 weeks of this.

I had the same exact thing :hug99: and the lack of breathing gave me anxiety attacks!!!! Not very fun!!!
I was anemic however, and was taking iron pills & *trying* to eat good :)
It did get better during the last month or so though & then completely went away once my babies were here - thank goodness!!!!!
    Hang in there :)

Definately mention it but I have the same thing and have had it for a while now. I can't even sing my toddler a song or make it to the phone without huffing and puffing. Even laying down makes me short of breath. When you feel like you are going to hyperventilate just try to remember that it is a normal feeling in pregnancy and there is nothing wrong with you. Try to take deep and slow breaths for a minute. That always helps with me. I am also thinking that I cannot go another 8 weeks like this.

I feel this way too, and it is even worse now that I'm on modified bedrest. Whenever I do get up to do something I'm more out of breath then I was before bedrest.

I'm taking tons of vitamins, and iron is one of them, and unfortunately it hasn't really helped me at all.

Thank you so much for the replies and the reassurances ladies. :) It makes me feel a lot better. I did call the doctor's office and they said that they automatically do another iron screening when they do the blood draw for the glucose test which I have tomorrow, so that helped too. I feel a lot better now than I did this morning. I think it really must be a twin thing because I don't ever remember feeling this way when I was pregnant with DS. :)

i did the same thing--My iron levels were extremely low -- they were 8 and the norn is 11. I took 3 different iron pills. Sorry to say it did not get any better. About week 33 it got really bad. I finally one night had to go to the ER My BP was 220/135!!!!!!! :shok: I had pre eclampsia. I was put on hospital bedrest. They still did not think this was the reasoning for my shortness of breath. I had heart u/s, chest x rays, etc., but found nothing. I had the twins 1 week later due to my water breaking--when they pulled my little girl out my main artery was cut because her toe got hung around it and severed it. They thought that this could have been the reasoning for my shortness of breath-- She had a hold of my artery and was determined to no let go :rotflmbo:

Hope you get to feeling better--It is bad, but gosh, what you get in return is the biggest blessing!!!

    God bless
    April
