I have posted here a few times asking for advice...specially being scared of handling twins, etc.etc. and all of you have been sooooo supportive..
I delivered my babies at 32 weeks and 5 days. They both spent 17 days in NICU (they could have come home on the 16th day but it was all so
sudden I need more time to prepare ))). They had orginally said to plan on them coming home 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after my due date (October 2nd) so it was a total surprise to bring them home so early! It was right after what would have been my 35 weeks, and drs said that even if the babies
are healthy it is obligatory by the state not to discharge them until 35 weeks.

It was a very rough beginning...specially having a c-section, being 5 minutes away from the hospital and not being able to drive to see them
when ever I wanted. Seeing your babies with IV, tubes,etc the first couple of days was rough.... specially thinking that they should
be in my belly and not having to go through all that....but now I look at them and thing that I have 5 extra weeks to enjoy them at home

The good side on being in the NICU was that both my husband and I got one on one training from the nurses on how to take care of them duirng the entire time. I cannot imagine coming home with twins after 3 or 4 days having had a c-section as first time parents. After I knew my babies were healthy I took time to recuperate. It was so nice bringing them home and having the energy and the confidence to take care of them

My baby girl (I had a boy and a girl), had a 2 vessel cord so she had to go through a lot of tests to be on the safe side...that was scary...but so far so good, we just need to follow up

So far they are in a 4 hours schedule...they have their own inside clock and if I pass 5 minutes after the 4 hours my boy specially alerts me and starts crying ... they are such good babies, I hope they stay that way!!!!!!

How great to finally be home ! Everyone who comes to visit hand them the camera and ask them to take a picture of you with each baby and with both babies. You won't have enough of pictures of YOU with them. A professional who comes to the house would be great. You will find just when you got the hang of them they will change and you will be back on this site looking for answers. Trust your mommy instincts. We are here if you need us ok ?

AWWW! Congratulations on bringing homw your babies! And your so lucky you got a chance to recover from your c-sec. and get a couple of good nites sleep! Being a mom of twins is IMO the best thing ever! :wub: And definently do what heathertwins said and have your pic taken with them. Wish I had more of me and them.Congrats again!

Congratulations on getting them home! That's wonderful that they're healthy, you're a little more rested, and you feel more confident due to the training of the NICU.

 

Thanks for that advice, you just made me realize we have been taking pictures of only the babies (excpet the day they came home)!

Congrats!!!!! Welcome to being a twin mom! It is such an awesome experience, I'm glad you are loving it so far! I'm so glad the babies are doing great after such a scary start. Be sure to share some pics. I'm sure the girls on the other "board" would love to hear about them too!
