    Hey all!
I have been reading the When you're Expecting Twins, Trip, or Quads and i have a good idea of what i am in for. but i have a major problem. i have always hated the taste of water. and this book says that i need soooo much. is there anyway that i can make water taste different so that i don't hate it and not take the value out of the water so that i get as much out it as i can.

this is the problem i am havng, i can only drink water when it is sooo cold and even then i can't even finish a whole 8 oz glass within a 4 hour period. it just sits there and i can make it as cold as i like and i still don't touch it. i just don't like the taste of water.

can i flavor it or add something to it to make it taste better???
    lots of love!

I live off of Crystal Lite and Sugar Free Kool-Aid. I feel the same way about water. I need flavor in it. Since I have given up Pop, Juice, and just about everything else, this works for me. I buy the boxes of the "on the go" packets and use them at work or wherever.
    Hope this helps.

You can also just spritz it with lemon juice. That will probably help the taste. Like pp mentioned you can try the Crystal Lite stuff too.

    I hate water too.
What I do is add a spalsh of Cranberry, Cran-apple, or Cran-graope and it sweetens it a bit.

I drank Hawaiian Punch, lemonade, and cranberry juice a lot...the nurses were always bringing me in something to drink, every time they came in my room (spent 4 weeks on hospital bedrest). I did drink water too, but there's only so much of it I can take.

I also LOVE milk and drank a lot of that too.

I do have to mention that I did not have a GD problem, so the sugar in the juices wasn't an issue for me.

I agree about the water thing, so I also add lemon juice. It also helps with the constant nausea!!

I dislike water also, I am soo bad. I don't drink a drop of it ever. When I was pregnant I basically just forced myself and eventually I got used to it and it went down pretty easy. After the babies were born I actually still drank water (I was having some swelling issues after delivery) for a few weeks although after about a month I did revert to my horrible Diet Coke habit!

Good luck, keep trying. I understand the cold thing, I was the same way. Hopefully you will get used to it like I did!

since you like it really cold you could try addng your favorite fruit juice, start out 50/50 and then reduce as you get used to the taste, and try freezing it or use one of the frosty mug things that make it into a slushy type drink

I just wanted to add that when you are looking for flavors to put in your water, you might want to keep in mind that some artificial sweeteners shouldn't be used alot during pregnancy. You want to stick to stuff sweetened with Splenda. Most books will tell you to avoid aspartame.

I know - they want you to drink, like, 10 galloins a day! I have bought some of those flavored waters - (Aquafina is one). It's basically water with natural berry or lemon flavors. They definitely go down a lot easier. Just be careful because I think there are some flavored waters out there with artificial sweetners and I know there are certain sweetners us prego mama's should avoid!

I always liked water with cucumber slices in it - gives it a really good taste. I love sugar-free kool-aid too and drank a lot of it while pregnant. Sometimes I'd mix a little cranberry juice in with the water as well. And I like the frosty mug idea, those things are awesome!!!

I also drank a TON of milk while pregnant.

ditto - find a juice that you like and use it, although i would go less than 50%, because of the sugar. I like pomegranate juice, which is expensive, but i put just a splash in a big glass of club soda or water, which makes it go down AND it looks pretty!

Do you like gatorade? You could use that instead. Adding a little lemon or lime to it would be fine also!

thank you all for your replies! i have a lot of ideas now. i could probably make a fruit juice if i take and add fresh fruit to a blender with some water right? i really don't care too much for the gatorad drinks they have salt in them and i have had problems with dehydration from the poweraid and gatorade both. so those are a no no for me. i guess it has a lot to do with my taste buds i'm sure.
    thanks again!

You could also make a big pitcher of herbal tea and then put it in the fridge (or drink it hot)... herbal tea counts as water and has no artificial sweetener (unless you add it). I love the fruit ones!

I drink loads of green tea.

Another thing you could try is rose water. a few drops of rose essence and a drop of red food colouring. You can make this as a concentrate and just add to water like cordial.

Another thing you could try is flavoured slushies, at least they would be cold.

Have you tried Propel? It's made by the same company that makes Gatorade, but it is lower in calories and sugar. I love the Lemon flavor and the mixed berry. You really should try it. I promise you will like it. [IMG]
