Why do people not value your time? My time is important to me and when people are always late, it is as if they do not place any importance on my time.

I meet a group of 3 moms every few weeks for coffee after we all drop our kids off at preschool. My older son goes to a different preschool than the others. But, it is literally across the street from the other school. They all start at 9 am. The coffee shop is then one block away. I am the only one with small kids to bring. The twins are 16 months. So by the time I have gotten the double stroller out, strapped them in, etc. I have killed a few more minutes. I don't think it unrealistic to think one should be there by 9:05-9:10 at the absolute latest. Well of course, it is generally between 9:20-9:30 when people show up. So my boys have been strapped into a stroller for 20-30 minutes and are just about done. Last time, when the first showed up at 9:25, I was literally getting my stuff together to go. So then I tried to corral the boys for a few minutes to chat. Not very much fun. Chasing two toddlers around a coffee shop is not fun! Kind of pointless. So this morning I get a text that one girl is still about ten minutes form school at 9 and everyone is running late. I waited in my car for ten minutes to see if anyone else would show up at a normal time & no one did, so I let her know that I couldn't wait around, I push the boys nap time as it is. And the part I don't get is that these people are always late for school. According to them, the teacher doesn't care. I find it hard to believe that 1/3 of the class showing up 20-30 minutes late daily is not a huge disruption! Thanks for letting me vent. I have lurked on here for over a year but finally got frustrated enough to post something!

Yeah, twins only give us so long to be social and then they are done! I would have been upset also. I hate it when people are late too...I am entirely too punctual for my own good!

I have a time phobia. I mean, if I even think I'll be 2 minutes late somewhere I can feel my blood pressure rising!
I hate that people are so self absorbed that they live by their own time. It's truly selfish IMO.

It is almost impossible to socialize when you have kids that age. Right now, I can't even get out with my singleton because he goes crazy when I try. Can you invite them over to your house instead? I also agree that getting to school late is terrible, especially if it's more than just a few minutes. It sets a bad precedent as well as a bad example to your children.

I guess I am so irked because I am extremely anal about punctuality. I can not stand to be late. On time is late to me. My son has never been late to school but yet these people are late daily???? Yes, I realize it is only preschool, but if you don't value being at school on time how can your child ever learn? Even crazier, pone of these people used to be a teacher before she had her daughter!

I totally understand. If I was in your group I'd be there with you and annoyed with everyone else.

I agree that is annoying, sounds like you need to get some friends with twins then they will "get it". It's hard enough to try chat with one toddler let alone two.
