    hi all,
i want to reintroduce myself, since i've been away from the board for several months. things got pretty crazy, plus i work fulltime and i'm a single mom, but anyway, i'd like to start spending more time here and learning from everyone. my name is amy, i'm 35 yrs old and have fraternal twin girls, sadie and elena, who are almost 14 months old. they are as opposite as opposite can be. they are so entertaining and love to play together and sometimes steal each other's toys... lol. i am getting into where i need to be working on discipline because sadie loves to throw herself on the floor and throw temper tantrums. elena is pretty laid back and hasn't done that, but she does like to play 'deaf' and ignore me when i'm trying to get her to stop doing something. since i am a single mom (by choice- conceived with donor sperm inseminations), i had to move in with my parents last year when i was 18 wks pregnant. so i have lots of help taking care of them even though i'm not married. we've made some mistakes along the way, but who hasn't!? one of them was letting them sleep in our beds with us, but now we've conquered that and they sleep in their own pip's in their own room together. now we need to wean them from the milk bottle at bedtime. i think it will just involve a lot of screaming but we'll eventually get it worked out... lol. anyway, i've never been on the 2nd year board and i look forward to learning and watching our children grow together!

:welcome: to the SY! It sounds like you and your girls are doing pretty well! We have a huge problem with tamper tantrums here, especially with my DS. I usually just make sure he is safe and then ignore him. Might not be the best plan in the world but I have noticed that the tantrums have decreased. Glad to have you back!

WIth the lilypie tickers, you use the BB code. :)

WIth tantrums, unless they are in an unsafe spot, I will just ignore it.

    Welcome back!

With the lilypie tickers, you would copy the BB/UBB code for your signature. I hope that helps!

Welcome back and yeah to you for doing a great job whilest working and being single!!

Lots of temper tantrums going on here by one of my boys - the other is completely laid back and so opposite like yours.

We still have a bottle before bed and so does my 3 year old! They brush their teeth after. Don't plan on dropping it. It's only just now that Lara doesn't really want it. So if you don't want to drop it, don't feel as though you have to!

:wavey: and welcome back!! I'm so glad to hear that everyone is doing well... minus the tantrums, but we all have to go through that to prove we're good enough. Kidding. I did as the others did, always ignored them. :good: They did go down tremendously around 20 months, so hopefully it will happen sooner for you. As for the bed time bottle, good luck!! :youcandoit: Just do it when YOU are ready to stick to your guns.

Hi, Amy! So glad to have you back here at TS. Hope you enjoy the SY - while it does have its challenges, there is lots of exciting development that takes place which can really be exciting! You have my utmost respect for parenting twins as a single mom!

    Hi Amy,

I've been wondering how you and your girls are doing. Please post some pictures when you get a chance.

I have one laid-back girl and one not-so-laid-back girl too. We haven't started time outs yet, but it is coming soon. I bought the book 1-2-3 Magic as an audio book (CDs) so I can listen to it in the car. My girls are too young to use the book's recommendations yet (it's for ages 2-12), but I think it will be very helpful in the future. I'm trying to think of a good time out spot in our house right now. I don't want to use the pack n play or their cribs since I want them to sleep well in them. Right now, I'm thinking about using the Super Yard we rarely use as a time out spot. We'll see.

We never got rid of the milk right before bed. We just switched from bottle to sippy cup. I really can't take the milk away from them at bed time because that's when my girls drink half of their milk for the day. They seriously drink 8 oz. right before bed. We brush their teeth after the milk and before bed, so I don't think there is harm in them having it at that time.

Hey Amy, I often check your updates on facebook (lately I see mostly mafia wars, seems like all of my FB friends are addicted to that game. :D )

I'm glad to see you back.
