Hello to ALL! My name is Kristy and I am new to the forum. I am 17 weeks 4 days pregnant with Boy/Girl twins. Up until my ultrasound three days ago I thought I was only carrying one baby! What a surprise it was to find out we are expecting twins for my husband and I. We are very excited. I am so scared though because I know nothing about being pregnant with twins other than a bigger belly. We have a four year old son named Korey who is thrilled to have a brother and sister on the way. I am only 5 feet tall and worry about where they will fit as they grow bigger. I have read so many things about higher risks for PTL, bed rest, preemies etc This is all leaving me uneasy. I am worrying about everything now. I thought I was so prepared this second time around, but with twins I am completely clueless. Do any of you live in the Houston area? I would love to meet other moms of twins close by. Anyone else experiencing sciatica? It is the sciatic nerve in your leg that can get pinched and cause pain from the lower back, through the buttocks and down the leg? I have horrible sciatic pain at night. Any tricks on how to feel better? I didn't experience this until my last month of pregnancy with my son..it is to the point where at night I am in so much pain I can't walk. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
Hello and :sign0016: . Congrats on your twins. I experienced sciatica with my last pregnancy toward the end and I took pain relievers, warm baths, laid down, and occasional massages. Those things helped to a point but when it was bad I couldn't walk either. It would come and go and basically I just had to put up with it. Thankfully I haven't expereinced it since, I hope you find some relief though. Good luck.
Hi Kristy!! Congratulations on your Twin Pregnancy and Welcome to Twinstuff!! I had sciatica extremely bad during my pregnacy. The only way I would get any relief is if I used a heating pad and took some tylenol.... I hope it gets better for you soon!
Hi there...your story sounds like mine. 7 week ultrasound showed one baby, I went back at 17 weeks to find out if it was a boy or girl & they found two babies!! It was a huge shock. It's taken some getting used to, but its wonderful. Congrats on your twins. You'll find a lot of supportive people here.
Congrats on your twins. Two boys, how exciting. Do you have any names picked out? I had gone for my first ultrasound at 12 weeks and my doctor never discovered it. I had a blood test come back abnormal suggesting high levels of the AF protein, they sent me to a genetic counselor and ultrasound to find out why, That is when they discovered twins on Tuesday...I had never suspected twins but was curious why my stomach was showing so much this early. I didn't show until 6 months with my son. I am thrilled but also scared. Have you had any complications? I will try the heating pad. Any idea on where to buy one? I haven't seen one in a while. May I ask what caused you twins to be born premature? Is it common with twins. I am sorry to pry, just curious and clueless about twin pregnancy. Congrats on your two girls! I can't wait to have my little girl, I am so happy to buy PINK! Hi Kristy & :sign0016:!!! Congrats on you b/g twin pregnancy I am also 5 feet (ok, maybe 4'11!!!) and wondered the same thing, my belly got HUGE - I felt like it stuck out 5 feet I was just fine though & carried my little girls to 37.5 weeks! They had no NICU time & came to my room right after my c-section. Sciatica was a PAIN (literally!). Luckily I only had it for my 1st trimester really. My OB sent me to Physical Therapy which actually helped. You will love Twinstuff ~ come back & post often
Congratulations Kristy! My dd is 5'1 and carried her twins to 36w when she had a scheduled c/s. She had a relativley easy pregnancy, no bedrest, contractions. Also, one of her twins is a Corey! Great name and I like your spelling of it..

I am on modified bedrest because I have pregnancy induced hypertesnsion. The PIH wasn't a surprise this time around, I had it with my daughter as well. We've picked out our names - Brayden Michael & Aaron Jason. I never got a call about any of my levels being abnormal or anything, it was weird. We heard nothing until our 17 week ultrasound, the tech looked at me and said there's two babies in there. I seriously thought she was kidding. I just kept waiting for her to say "ha..I'm just kidding, there's one", but she didn't. It all started to make sense as to why I was so big at already at that point. As a PP stated, try the heating pad for your sciatica, that and the swimming pool are the only thing that has helped me. It's easy to worry about everything being pregnant with twins or more. Believe me, you'll see me in here asking a ton of questions. But the ladies here are a great support. There are way too many things on the internet that scared the bejebbies out of me, but coming to this forum for support has helped so much!
