I am back to Twinstuff, happy to find this forum. It has been so long that I had to get a new user name. I forgot my password and then had to start over again. oops! Anyway, my name is Lisa and I have 4 year old twin boys. I just found out I am pregnant again. I am thrilled, so happy, but so scared. I just took the pregnancy test two weeks ago Sunday. I have been in so much pain. They took my levels a week ago and my Progesterone was 12.2 so they put me on Progesterone. My hcg levels looked great. They were 3000 and then 9000. So I was feeling fairly comfortable and then today I went in for an ultrasound because of the pain and there was no heartbeat. The doctor said that was normal. He said it looked like from the test that I was not as far along as we would expect that I probably ovulated later in my cycle than just going from my date of late period. He said the yolk sac looked good and the fetal pole. He wants me to come back in two weeks for an ultra sound. Oh, and he said not to worry in between. Now that will be easy. So I would love to hear from others that had an ultra sound to early to detect a heartbeat. Thanks all and it is great to be back.

Easy for the dr to tell you not to worry. I hope that everything is ok next time you go in...sounds like you went in REALLY early in the pregnancy. Congrats and welcome back to TS!!! We are glad to have you in this forum!

    Hello there,

When I found out I was preggo with twins, they pointed out two sacs but never said anything about the heartbeats (which weren't there yet) and you know what, being that it was my first pregnancy, I didn't even ask. I just assumed that you wouldn't see the heartbeat for months, so I wasn't concerned at all... Now this time around, my second pregnancy (5+ years later) I was freaking out about going to my first u/s because I was told, "now try not to freak out if you don't see the heartbeat, it might just be too early to see it"... I was NERVOUS!! I went in, my BP was high because I was obviously worried, and when we did the u/s they could hear the heart beat, see it and the baby was moving already. I was 8 weeks 3 days at the time. Soooo, don't worry too much. Their lil' tickers are pretty tiny at early stages of pregnancy... I mean, the baby was like smaller than 3 mm when I was 8 weeks! TINY!!! U/S equipment it's so super high tech that we can see something that ridiculously itty bitty. :D I wish you the best!

Welcome and Congratulations! With this pg I had a dating u/s at 5 weeks, and there was no heart beat...a week and a half later, we had another u/s and there were arm and leg buds and a nice strong heart beat! So try to hang in there, if your levels are going up, that is a really good sign, and they are pretty high! I think my first #'s with this one were in the 5900 range (on a Monday) and then by that Saturday they were 20,000. Everytime I miscarried my numbers were in the toilet...around 100 or so and if they went up, it was only by a few points...so I am encouraged by what you wrote! Try to hang in there! I'll be thinking of you!
