Jack and Lily are a14 months old and have been sleeping in footed pjs by carters. I am sure many of you already know that they only seem to make the footed ones up to 9months. I am currently stuffing Jack into his 9mos Carters footed pjs hoping to find another option soon. I thought that I hit the jackpot with footed ones from Baby Gap but they fit so snuggly (that is the design so, going a size up does not help) and it drove Jack crazy. Then I found some cheap brand at BRu that had footed pjs for 12 mos. but they shrank down to nothing the minute I washed them.

I am so frustrated. I am not against switching to non-footed ones; however, I know it is silly but I HATE messing with anything that has to do with their nighttime sleep. Once they started sttn at 9 mos., I hate to change anything. I just picture their poor little cold feet and it makes me cringe. They do not really know how to sleep under a blanket at this point. What do you use?

Mine still sleep in sleeping sacks. :pardon: Even in the summertime! The a/c keeps their rooms quite chilly, so they feel just right in their sacks. During the summer they sleep in a shortsleeve shirt and shorts {PJ's}. This has been working for them. My son has a blanket but he prefers to snuggle with it instead of use it as a blanket. My dd just tosses it out of her bed. :pardon: OR you could put socks on them? :)

In the winter E & V slept in footie pajamas and a fleece sleep sack. Starting this summer, they sleep in tshirt and shorts pajamas and a thin cotton sleep sack. No blankets in the cribs yet because they move around way too much.

I didn't have any issues with the transition from footie pjs to the short version, but I did have the sleep sack consistancy to help with the transition. I bought the tshirt/short sets at Target and Costco. If you're committed to footies, Childrens Place sells footies in sizes all the way up to 4T. I think you can order them online. I found they ran slightly small.

    Thanks LIz,

We do use the sleep sacks for naps but never have for nighttime. We too use them year round and just keep the air on. I am totally paranoid that if I put them in sleep sacks for nighttime they will be confused and think it is naptime since that is when we use them. I guess I could try the shortsleeve pjs and sleepsacks but I am nervous they will be confused. I am such a wuss :)!

We have footy PJs from carters in bigger sizes (12 month and 18 month), but the girls don't wear those during the summer. They've been sleeping in the two piece PJs from carters (tees and long pants or tees and shorts). Also, children's place makes light weight cotton footy PJs in larger sizes. Right now my girls are in between the 12 and 18 month sizes, so I hope once the weather gets cooler they'll finally fit into the 18 month ones I have.

Hey Amy, I'm likely no help at all but FWIW M&A sleep in footless pj's (they've never worn footed ones) and haven't worn socks to bed for several months since it warmed up here this spring. In fact, they get overheated when I do put socks on them so I started leaving them off and they sleep wonderfully. Now, we do put light blankets on them after they fall asleep but by morning they've kicked them off and they still aren't cold at all (the temp in the house is usually around 72-74). Maybe you could give it a try and just see? You might be surprised!

    Good luck!

Where did you find the carters footies in bigger sizes? Also, I checked the Childrens Place website and they did not advertise any footed pjs. I guess I will have to buy them at the store :( :)

I have footed PJ's from Carter's, in 24 months, so I know they make them larger than 9 months. I have gotten mine at Kohl's.

Mine sleep in footed PJ's in the winter. In the summer they are in 2 piece pants/shorts with no socks, sometimes socks if it's chillier out. Last summer though we did put socks on them, this summer we have not.

Mine sleep in regular PJs throughout the year. On days when it might be a little warmer in the house they have short sleeve tops and shorts that they wear. As for naps they usually just sleep in whatever they are wearing for that day. Unless it would be too uncomfortable for them. They do wear socks during the winter though.

It's ok to be a wuss! That said, I'll bet you that if you put your kids in short pjs and the sleep sacks at night you won't even notice any difference all. Mine didn't react at all. I just followed the exact same bed time routine and they were out for the night as usual.

Our upstairs never gets too cool, even with the A/C on, so mine sleep in nightgowns or shorts/short sleeved 2 piece PJ's. In the spring/fall I put them in long sleeve/long pants PJ's with no feet, but just put socks on them if it is chillier. In the winter they have worn one piece fleece footed PJ's, but I got 2 piece fleece non-footed jammies for this coming winter (for PT purposes), so they'll wear socks too.

With all that variety of sleeping clothing, they still sleep just fine. :)

I don't know if you have a Steve & Barry's near you, but they have cotton footed PJs in big sizes. I know that we have them in 2T and 3T. They didn't not shrink when I washed them in cold water.

I got the carter's PJs in bigger sizes at Kohls, the Carter's outlet, Macy's, and BJs Wholesale. HTH.

Okay, so I am going to blame it on Mommy Brain, but, I just ordered Carters footed pjs on-line. Previously, when I googled Carters and went to the site, it only showed options for girl (infant) "playwear" and boy (infant) "playwear". I then used the search option to type in anything related to sleepwear and nothing came up so I gave up and posted my post.

So, this time I just went into the playwear option and there the footed pjs were - staring me right in the face. I guess I just did not think they would be in the playwear option. That being said, I wonder why BRU only carries up to 9mos.

I ordered a pair for each as well as a pair of shorts and a t-shirt type sleepwear for each in the case I branch out a bit :)!

Sorry to waste all of your time! Still, very helpful to see what everyone else uses for sleepwear.

I just bought 24 mo fleece footie pjs from Children's place...3 for $30, I think. Their thin cotton footie pjs were 3 for $24 & I know they went into the 4T range. I had 18 mo fleece footie pjs from the Carters outlet, but am going to return them b/c it got too warm before we could use them.

    So they're out there...good luck!

My girls still have footed pjs. The Children's Place makes them up to 3T (maybe even bigger). I have an outlet by me and get them when they are on sale (usually 3 for $20 or $25, can't remember). Also, until only recently, my girls slept in the Halo wearable blankets. When they used those, sometimes I would put regular pjs on them and socks. I would use the cotton blankets in the warmer months and the fleece ones in the winter. Now my girls generally wear regular pjs and have small blankets but we keep the temperature regulated for comfortable sleep since they still tend to move around a lot and kick the blankets off.

We get footed sleepers at Costco -- made by Carter's, I believe. I know they have them up to 24 months, but I think I've even seen 3T. Anyway, glad you found them!

Since they turned 2, they've been leaning towards 2-piece PJs. They will still wear the footie ones, but I think they feel more "big kid" in the 2-piece ones. So I'm not buying any more footies (though it makes me a little sad -- I love the sight of my babies in footie pajamas).

FWIW, I put my kids in sleep sacks for nighttime and naptime. It doesn't seem to confuse them. And I think it helps them remember that naptime is for sleeping.

Mine are still in footed PJ's too b/c they don't like to sleep with a blanket. I buy ours at Children's Place and I know they go up to at least 3T b/c that's what they're wearing now. Right now, they have the thinner footed pj's and in the Winter, we switch to thicker ones.

I am a big fan of Children's Place footed sleepers. I don't have a store near me, and you are right, their website often doesn't have them, but they sell them through Amazon so I buy them there. And they have $5 flat rate shipping through Amazon as well as on their website.

Exact ditto here. We found that when we put socks on them, they woke and pulled them off. I feel bad due to the a/c...but it doesn't bother them since they're sleeping 12-13 hrs/night...HTH
Oh, I was browsing Sears and found some the other day and they were 12 and 18 months with feet...didn't pay attention to the brand because we have h/w floors throughout so we can't use the footie jammies-TOO DANGEROUS here! You might check there though

wow - I qualify for horrible mom of the year...mine are in t-shirt/shorts PJ's (sometimes tank top PJ's) with the A/C on (window unit) and I've never put them in a sleep sack - they have a blanket that they sleep on - not under!

I do have hot kids though and if I put socks on them they're off in 5 minutes!

I had the same problem you did, I was squeezing my girls into non-footed sleepers because I was afraid of changing anything!

But we did make the change and the girls didn't even notice. they are much cuter now because we have a much better selection! :)

The Children's Place has footy jammies that go up to 3T- cotton and fleece. These are the best PJs, and we do not wear anything else. I do not dry them in the dryer (but, I do not dry about 60% of my clothes in the dryer), and I have not had a problem with them shrinking. I rarely pay full price for the PJs, as you can usually find them on the clearance racks or at the outlet clearance racks.
Gymboree PJs are good too, almost equal to TCP, but they run a bit smaller, and of course, they are more expensive, and harder to find on clearance racks.
Target also carries fleecy PJs up to size 14 I believe. We have not tried them, but I know I have seen them there.
Old Navy also carries nice PJs, but they run skinny in my opinion, and I have three skinny and tall girls. However, their two-piece jammies are good once they are a bit older, because the bottoms actually stay on, and they do not stretch out after my dd wears them once. I avoid the one piece snap up PJs though, even though they go up to size 5T, because all those snaps are a nightmare for little kids, and extremely frustrating for adults.

Check eBay for lots of TCP jammies...or if you are interested, I have some that I was going to put on eBay, just PM me.

Also, we have hard wood floors throughout, and when they were younger and wore jammies more often throughout the day, I would put their non slip slippers on overtop the jammies...the little robeez knock-offs at target work quite well for this. I even took them out in their jammies sometimes, or if we came home late at night, and I would just slip their shoes on top of their jammies.

Here is a website that carries footed pajamas for all ages, even adults! My 12-year-old nephew wore one-piece footed sleepers the first winter after my brother moved his family from Texas to Iowa ... poor Texan kid was freezing all the time! My SIL ordered them from this website ...

    http://www.crazyforbargains.com/

I've ordered a couple of pair of pajamas for my grandsons through this website as well. They have the infant sizes that are short-sleeve, long pants (no feet), and the top and bottom snap together at the waist. Those work great, otherwise boys usually have their pajama shirts up around their chest in the morning and their little bellies are cold!

OHHH, I so miss the footed pjs. I am clearing out all of the boys baby clothes for consignment and eveything is so small!!

We live in Texas also so the boys only wore/wear footed pj's only two months out of the year. Most of the time they are in shorts and a t-shirt. Sometimes in July and August they just sleep in diapers or shorts. For all of you northern folks, the temp right now is 102! I would love to live somewhere that we could wear sweaters and even coats!

The boys each got a croched (sp?) blanket when they were born. This is the only blanket they use. I like it because it is not heavy, (remember the 102 temp) and it has holes so we did not have to worry about it wrapping around their heads and not being able to breath.
