I bought stage 2 baby food the other day and wasn't paying attention I guess to what the mixed fruits were...so today I was giving them fruit and realized that one of the fruits in the the mix was strawberried!!! I think I gave them a container of it yesterday without realizing it too!!! YIKES do I need to be seriously concerned???

My son is just 10 months and I started giving him the apples and strawberries and he hasn't had a reaction to it, so if your kids haven't broken out in a rash or anything, it's not a problem.

I would just watch for a reaction, I am sure that they are fine! For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they would even make such a combo, if we are supposed to stay clear of it!!

I started giving mine strawberries when they started eating solids...just watch for reactions. I am sure they are fine and you are NOT an idiot!! Like Becky said, there is so many baby foods out there with strawberries in them. Don't know why?

my ex-sil gave mine this strawberry/wheat cereal from walmart when they were about 8 months. of course i freaked out at first- strawberries & wheat- 2 things they aren't supposed to have! but, they didn't have any kind of reaction, so i just went ahead & started feeding them strawberries & they LOVE them! i'm pretty sure the reason behind "no berries before a year" is the potential for an allergic reaction, so if they aren't showing any signs, i wouldn't worry about it.

I think I read somewhere that baby food strawberries are ok because they boil it first or something like that (I could be very wrong). At 9 months I actually began to give real strawberries.

I believe baby food strawberries (and other baby fruits like oranges) are cooked first and therefore not as allergenic...I'd just watch for a reaction....I didn't know you weren't supposed to do strawberries either until 3 months after I started feeding it to them!

I fed mine the Stage 2 Strawberries and Bananas all the time, they loved it! No reactions.

Just watch and if they have no allergy to it, you can feed it to them again!

I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it. The good news is, as PP said, now you can keep giving it if they do fine.

Holy cow, nobody (not one single doctor, either) has ever told me to not give the girls berries... I've been giving them fresh fruit (strawberries, cherries, watermelon, etc) for months now - thank goodness there have not been any reactions.

I have given mine strawberries too. I didn't even know they weren't supposed to have them. Mine did fine with them. I'm sure yours will too.

Not all berries are bad, strawberries are very allergenic though.

Commercial baby food with strawberries in it is usually ok because they cook them at really high temps for the canning process.

I gave mine the apple/straw/banana combo for several days before I ever knew it's not a good idea!! I agree with pps, just watch for a reaction.

Strawberries and raspberries are supposed to be the most allergic fruits. Mine have also already had strawberries by accident (thanks, Dad!) ;) and I did know they weren't supposed to have them. Oh well, no harm done, no allergic reaction.

You're not supposed to give strawberries? What else aren't you supposed to give?
