We just got back from L&D. I spent a few hours on a monitor, I am not contracting and the babies heart rates are on target, but I am in so much pain. I have a UTI and it feels like my lower abdomen is on fire. I know that I have to keep these babies in, I feel guilty for wanting this over with but I'm absolutely miserable right now. I feel like I am peeing razor blades and to make it worse I keep getting kicked in the bladder. I love these babies dearly, I just want them to be still just for a little while. i am just sitting here watching videos on the laptop and crying. I can't move and I feel so bad for bugging Kaila to get me things I WANT A TIME OUT!

Oh Lauren.  :( I'm so sorry about the UTI!!! Those are not fun... and add that on to being pregnant with twins, makes it even more uncomfortable. First off, don't feel bad for bugging Kaila, she loves you and is there for you. I'm sure you would do the same for her. Second, did the doctor give you anything for it? Did they say how long it would take to run it's course?

    I'm sorry. :grouphug:

I have antibiotics for the UTI, but nothing for pain. I am drinking cranberry juice. I'm have had bladder infections before, but never like this. I think I am going to go back to the ER if this isn't better soon. I feel like there is something else going on. thanks ladies for the encouragement

Last summer I had UTI after UTI and I was miserable. I can't imagine being pregnant on top of that! I'm so sorry! If you are taking medication it should just be a couple of days more before you start to feel better. Take care!

Can you take Azo-Standard (it's OTC)? I know it didn't completely take the pain away but it helps.

I had a kidney infection once and the pain was unbearable, but it was all in my my back if I remember right! UTI's can sometimes turn into that so if you still don't feel better soon it may be worth checking on again. I had to go and get IV antibiotics to clear mine up as regular ones did not do the trick. (Although I wasn't pregnant at the time.) Good luck! Hang in there!

    Hi Lauren,

So sorry you are unwell. Have you considered calling the doctor and having them call in a prescription for pain? There must be something they can prescribe or they can tell you what to take OTC. I would call and get something. There's no reason for you to suffer.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I was going to say the same thing or Uristat. Call and ask if you can take either of these. When I used to get UTI's these medicines were life savers.

Sorry, I forgot one thing. When I first started getting UTI's my doctor just prescribed an antibiotic without doing a cultural to see which bacteria was causing it. The antibiotic didn't work b/c the strain of bacteria was resistant to it. Did your doctor do a culture and send it out? If not, you could be on the wrong antibiotic.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I think he must have ordered one, because he told be he was puttting me on this antibiotic because it covered a broad spectrum, but he would call me in a few days if it needs to be changed.
Kai called about the AZO standard, the Dr said no he called me in something else, Uristat I think. I really hope it helps cause it's not gwetting better. I have resorted to laying with my hips propped up higher than the rest of me to try to angle the babies off of my bladder.

Glad you called the doctor and got something. Whenever I'm in the states, I have the pharmacy number for my local CVS memorized so I can give it to the doctor's office if necessary. Best convenience in the world. I dont think they do that here in England.

Hope it works and you feel better soon, hon.

    Take care

I am the Queen of UTI and bladder infections unfortunately I would stay far away from AZO because they do not put a provable ingrediant list (thisis for all not just preggos) The company is in litigation to be able to cover up the formula and I am leary. Anywho I was going to tell you sme hints that usually work (usually said  )

Drink a liter or 2 of sprite or 7up and try to hold it as long as possible, the sugar will react in the bladder kinda washing the first layer of infection out. After that make sure you kinda not drnk so much for the next 12 hours so that it can work.

Cranberry pills will change the Ph of your system and will actually dull the pain. Try to get them at a GNC as they sell pure capsules.

You can try (I never did as I was afraid of GD) but to swallow 3 tablespoons of cane sugar does the same as the sprite

    Yogurt is good

Sorry your suffering and Get well soon!

oh my gosh, i just got over the worst UTI imaginable at 27 weeks pregnant. i actually had blood in my urine it was so bad. i cried for DAYS and then all of the sudden my pee turned kool-aid color red. it took a few days on macrobid 100mg 2x's a day for the misery to end but it eventually did. now i'm just plain ole miserable from being pregnant.

i can totally relate and i hope you are feeling better today!!!!!
