Ok, so I'm Michelle, I'm pretty new here, just been a lurker. I'm a Type I Diabetic, and due May 12th. We get our 17 week appt with the Peri this Monday & I'm wondering how well your babies "performed"?? Is it harder to see both genders? My high-risk OB sent me to Peri's office cause they had better U/S equipment, so I'm hoping we will see what both the babies are, but should I be prepared to only see one??? Thank you all in advance!!

Hi Michelle! Ugh, I just got GD, I can't imagine what a pain it must be to *start out* diabetic! Good luck-and keep me posted on that!
As far as seeing their bits, we laugh that both our girls are gonna be pole dancers, as whenever we have an u/s they literally shimmy around and flash us every time. We have the same u/s tech every time and she calls them "The Cheeky Peddie Girls".

Our baby B was quick to give it up at 18 weeks, but if it were left to baby A, we would not have known their sex until after 20 weeks. Thankfully, we knew they were identical, so once we knew one, we knew both.

    Good luck!

Someone told me to drink a soda with before going in and believe it or not that worked for us! The babies were moving around like crazy.

That's exactly what I did for all my babies. And it totally worked. I'm not sure what diabetics can drink, but anything with a little caffeine and/or sugar should be helpful :)

Our boys showed the goods right away! If you have a good and patient u/s tech most of the time you can get them to show you.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

We found out that our baby B was a girl at 14 weeks (at the peri's office) and the tech was 85% sure baby A was a girl at that time. it was at 18 weeks that we were sure that both were girls. Baby B (Ava) was always my active baby, I never needed a soda to get her to move! My Baby A (Addison) has always been very laid back- she would position herself in a comfy ball and stay there!

We found out the sex of our twins at 18 weeks, two girls. Baby A was out for all the world to see and not being shy about it at all. Baby B was being more shy, however since they are identical we knew if we got one the other should be the same. Our u/s was trying really hard to see Baby B because as she said I want to check and be sure because stranger things have happened. She gave us a quick peek at the end and confirmed a second girl!

Baby B is obviously a boy and has been very proud to show it off, however Baby A will not give it up. U/S tech thinks A is a girl, but no hard evidence as of yet..

We found out Baby B at 17/18 weeks, but it was almost 22 weeks before we saw Baby A. Once we knew B was a boy, everyone joked that A must be a girl since she was so shy (would NOT open her legs, she really sat with her knees together) and they were right. And when we were finally able to see, it was very quick.

Welcome and congrats on your twins!
At 16w, the tech said she was pretty sure Baby A was a boy (but wouldn't put it in my chart yet since technically it was still early) and thought B was a boy but the cord was in the way. At 20w it was very clear they were both boys. Ahd at pretty much every u/s since then, the different techs we've had have all said to each baby at some point during the scan, "Yep, you're definitely a boy!"

GL at yours! Hope they both show off for you. :)

We found out at 15 weeks. As soon as the u/s tech saw one boy, and that they were mono/di, he knew the other was a boy also. But yes, both seemed eager to display what they were anyways.

It really depends on the baby, both my ds and dd hid at my first u/s. With my ds I begged my ob for another u/s at 34 wks to find out what we were having. With my dd I made an appt at an outside u/s place to find out. That place told me to drink something cold, sweet and/or with caffeine about an hour before my appt. It worked! She showed us right away.

So with the twins I went ahead and scheduled an appt with that same outside place, drank a cold orange juice on the way there, and both babies were squirming around! I now drink something sweet before each u/s just so we can double, triple, quadruple check! lol

So drink something really cold and sweet or caffeinated and you should be able to find out easily!

Boys are easier its hard to miss, but my tech was able to see both were girls at around 15 wks. (by u/s age) they spend a lot more time with you when theirs more than 1. Good luck!

Well, I did drink a diet caffeine filled Dr. Pepper!! And it worked! One was WAY proud of his good! Definitely a BOY!! And the other was more shy, but we did get to see it was a BOY too!!! They also said they were Di/Di twins, so I gotta go do some more research on that!! But THANK you all for all the help!!!

Baby A showed her goods like nobody's business at 19 weeks, but Baby B was modest and didn't show her goods until about 25 weeks. ;)

Hi Michelle! Welcome to TS and congratulations on your Twin Pregnancy! My girls were not shy about showing off their 3 little lines. At 18 weeks my OB told me it was girls, but I refused to believe it. I went and had a 4d ultrasound done at 19 weeks to confirm and sure enough it was 2 girls!

    Good Luck at your appointment!
