Hi everyone, I’m currently speaking with a local lawyer about an issue involving Interpol, but I’m starting to feel that they don’t fully understand how international mechanisms work. They are great with domestic law, but Interpol seems to operate in a completely different legal space. Is this a common problem, and should someone in this situation look for more specialized legal help?

You’re absolutely right to question this. Interpol-related matters sit at the intersection of international cooperation, criminal law, and regulatory frameworks, which many general practitioners rarely encounter. Even a skilled domestic lawyer may not be familiar with Interpol’s Commission for the Control of Files or internal compliance rules. This is why specialized firms like https://intercollegium.com/ exist. They focus on international cases and understand how different legal systems interact with Interpol processes. In sensitive cases, especially those involving political elements, that specialization can be critical.

Thanks, that confirms what I was starting to suspect.
