Mods, feel free to move this if it should go somewhere else, or point me to a thread if this is covered already.

I need to know what I need to put in the diaper bag--I want it packed and ready to go. I get that I need diapers and wipes, but what else? peepee teepees or an extra cloth diaper or two? Ziplocs for putting dirties in? (I'm planning on cloth diapering)

The bag I bought comes with a little changing pad--should I use the baby wipes to clean it between changings or should I put something like the lysol disinfectant wipes in the bag too?

Should I put desitin or balmex or boudreaux in there too?

And how many diapers should I have on hand in the bag for twins? My mom bought me a ton of disposable diapers so I plan to use those in the diaper bag until they're used up, but how many would you recommend?

Change of clothes and receiving blankets in the event of major diaper blowouttage that gets on their clothes and swaddling blankets?

    What else, what else?!?!

this is whats in my diaper bag every time i go out..

    6 bottles
formula - both kinds.. babies on dif formula...
    2-3 bottles of water
    mylacon, infant tylenol(just had shots..)
about 20 diapers - if you are using cloth... i think that taking zip lock bags for dirtys is a good idea... but disposable are probably easier in public.. (i over pack diapers..)
    pack of wipes
an outfit for each.. just in case
    burp cloth
    paci's
diaper rash cream.. baby powder if they have a rash or are starting to get one..

i think thats it... i cant think of anything else.. :)

This is my first time packing a bag for twins, but I can tell you if you are breastfeeding, pack A LOT of diapers.

Here's what I have packed in the past when my sons were small babies:
Diapers- as many as you can shove in there!
    Wipes- Pampers Sensitive for me
Aquaphor - the only thing I ever use on rashes
Small bottle of hand sanitizer- I like the ones from Bath and Body Works
At least 2 extra outfits including socks (seem to always get poop on them during changes!)
Some kind of extra blanket to cover up with when nursing
    Burp Cloths
    Sm bottle of Baby Lotion
    Extra Pacifiers

And usually I don't carry a handbag if I already have the diaper bag to carry, so :
My own stuff like Nursing Pads, cell phone, checkbook, etc.

I haven't packed for twins yet, but I did have a two year old and a newborn at one time, and I work at a daycare. What I recomend is, as for diapers plan for 3 to 4 changes depending on how long you are gone. A bag for soiled diapers, change of clothes, just in case, and if you are using cloth have you checked out diaperaps? I am considering them myself. I would use disposable for night time and when I go somewhere... less to pack with disposables. If you have to go during their usual feeding time take a bottle each, if formula fed with the formula already measured out. As for the diaper bag changing pad, just wipe it off with the wips when you are done and then when you get home, wash it with soapy water, rinse, and sanitize. DO NOT USE THE LYSOL WIPES ON IT. It can leave residu on it that can irritate the babies' skins. Remember it's bleach highly concentrated. Remember, you are going to have two babies with you when you go and the less to carry the better. ONLY take what is necessary. A makeup purse is a great item to carry with your bag though. It can carry all the little things you may need like clippers, tylenol, colic tablets, etc. As for wipes, just get a baggie or use a small travel case. Your little ones won't go through as many as you think! Hope this helps!

    ;)

Wow, you are some prepared moms!
For me it depends on how long I'll be out.
    For a quick trip out,
I grab the small d.bag that's always handy in the coat closet:
4 diapers, travel pack wipes, cloth diaper for clean up etc, and a couple toys.

For a day out (shopping, church, whatever) we have the Lands End bag with:
    6 diapers,
wipes (in a white travel container)
    bottles and formula with water
    cloth diapers
    1 change of clothes each
    blanket (if I nurse)
    changing pad and hand sanitizer
    butt cream :)
    toys or books.
    snack like Cheerios or crackers

    Hope that helps

Thanks ladies, this is exactly the info I need! Advice from mom's who have been there! :)

I just want to have the "special emergency" diaper bag packed in the trunk of my car and my diaper bag packed so that I won't have to worry about getting it ready for that first trip out of the house post-partum (which will probably be to the pediatrician!)

I'm also planning on buying a diaper bag for my husband, but not until he learns to change a diaper!
