How to make a nursery...

Now that we're starting to understand we really are having two babies in June (ok, maybe May but definately by July we will be parents!), we're starting to think about the nursery. Not really sure where to begin.

At this point we know one baby is a boy. The other is 60 percent a boy but she wasnt positive at the last visit (we're 18.5 weeks).

We have a pretty blue room that could just use a touch up, with white trim. And we're inheriting a dark wood crib that is pretty awesome (no drop downs, solid piece of furniture!). We'll get a second one similar, and whatever furniture we need (I think a glider, and a changing table).

But when it comes to sheets/themes/etc, I was wondering, did you match them? Or just similar themes? Like if one is an elephant theme and one is a giraffe (unless of course one ends up being 6 feet tall and the other ends up struggling with his weight like his mom, ugh!), that kinda works...

Just wondering what other mamas did. Pictures would be awesome!

    Thank you!

(And thank you all for getting me to breath and not freak out for the first 18.5 weeks. Its getting much better!)

I haven't made our nursery, but I am going with a coordinating, but not matching nursery. For two boys how about one with planes http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romnur/romnurbfy/ and one with trains http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romnur/romnurbfy/.

For those lurking with 2 girls - Pottery Barn Kids has an adorable bedding called Daisy Garden with one set on a mostly pink background and the same exact flowers on a green background with matching rugs, curtains, etc... If I was having 2 girls this was going to be IT, so someone should benefit ;)

Personally, I think blue could work for both boys and girls. We have boy/girl twins on the way and our nursery was painted yellow so I decided to keep it that way and I did blue bedding from the DwellStudio line at Target ("zoo" print which is animals) and white furniture because our room is a little small and because it keeps it a bit more feminine to balance out. I did just get the same bedding for both cribs because it was hard enough for me to find one pattern I liked, let alone two! Plus, it's basically just crib skirts and then the sheets are plain. I have the bumpers in there now but they'll come out once the twins are actually using the cribs.

Don't have photos yet because the room isn't quite done but that's the gist of it. I don't know, I think there are plenty of ways you can keep it pretty gender neutral if you're worried and it sounds like what you have started is pretty doable for boys or a girl. I also think the nursery decor is really more for the grownups anyway! :)

My situation is a little different from yours, because we already have a toddler son and we are for-sure having twin boys. I've decided to move my son into a "big boy" room and put the twins in his old nursery. So we are keeping the same theme, I'm just getting complimentary bedding for the second crib that we'll put in there. But even if the nursery weren't already decorated, that's probably the way I would go. Sorry, no pictures to share.

    Have fun decorating! :)

I just posted pics of our twins nursery. They are both boys. It is in the expecting folder. :)

I decided I was going to do black and white toile well before we knew what flavor of babies we were having - I was going to do pink minky sheets and changing pad cover for girls, blue for boys. Here's the result:

Ignore the red walls - the babies live in our dining room and I decided I was too lazy to paint. And then paint it red again when the babies move across the house.

How do I find the "expecting" folder? I checked Galleries and it seems to only have five pictuers in it... Am I doing something wrong?

    Thank you!!!

I made all my bedding myself because I didn't like any of the pre-made stuff out there. I went with coordinating, but not identical stuff. It's for girls, but I think you could get ideas in general...
