Does anybody have any tricks for getting kids to pee on the potty the first time? My two year old has a phenomenal vocabulary. She does not like being in a wet diaper anymore. She tells me the minute she goes and she stays dry for hours on end. I would really like to get her trained, but with the older kids I don't have a lot of days where I can devote to being home to do nothing else but potty train. She is very eager to sit on the potty and talks about it non-stop, but she has yet to actually go on the potty. I suspect if I could just get her to go once or twice she would get the hang of it. She really wants to be big like the other kids. We usually try the potty before and after bath, before naptime, if she has been dry a long time, etc. I haven't really dove into training her (mostly because of time constraints), but trying here and there.

So are there any tricks to getting her to go?

What I did to get them to pee the first time was let them drink a lot, then sit them on the potty and sit in front of them and we sang songs for a while. After about 15 minutes they both peed involentarily (sp), but yet realized what they did the minute it started. So I made a big deal out of it, clapping, and telling daddy they went tinkle on the potty. After that for Reagan it is a lot easier. Brooke not so much, but that's becuse she's not the most co-operative child. :)

Take her 1st thing in the morning, and if you can wake her up or get her before she's been stirring in her crib you just might have success.

Fill her up with yummy fluids like juice or something and then maybe trickle the water in the bathroom for a few seconds to (10-15 or you might not hear her go in the potty) get her started and then do a crazy dance and sing and cheer! Good luck!
