How to get back to STTN?

My DD was sick for almost 2 weeks. We had a week of healthy and then DS got something different for a week and then gave it to DD who is now hopefully almost over it. IT has not been much fun. Needless to say they have not been STTN with all this going on. And even the healthy one will wake when the sick one does and I end up feeding them both and then they go right back to sleep. Before all this since 4 mo for DD and 6 mo for DS they have STTN with no problem. I never even had to do CIO, just let her fuss a few minutes to go to sleep and 12 hours later she would wake up.

But now it is terrible. they go down at 7. The last few night DD wakes at 8 (eats and goes back to sleep) DS wakes at 10(eats and go back to sleep) DD wakes at 12 (nurses again) DS wakes at 4 (nurses again) and some times they are both up at those times and even other times. I didn't mind doing it when they were sick and not feeling well. I am still giving DD a few more days as she is still really congested. But I don't know what to do. They go down really well with little or no fussing. But then wake and cry and wake the other one. What do I do? How do I get my great sleepers back? Help, this no sleep is killing me as I have to get up alone as DH works noon until midnight and I am getting up all night and then they wake at 6:30 or so for the day. I am so grumpy and have little patience by late afternoon. Any advice BTDT to round 2 of STTN.

We went through this after their colds. They didn't eat much then so I just figured they were making up for it. We just tried to stick to the schedule as much as possible and a couple of weeks later it got better. Are they teething, hitting a growth spurt? That may be part of it.

BTW, when Indira came home from a week long stay in the hospital she woke up at 12:30 for 2 months because that is when they would come in for vitals and meds. She didn't need to eat, just cuddled.

    Hang in there.

I did have to do CIO to get my two to sleep through the night so we did a night of CIO after they were sick. Usually one night did it and they'd sleep through the night again. If you don't want to CIO, I'd try giving laying them back down, giving them a pacifier, and patting them on the back to get them back to sleep without eating. You can also sit next to the crib and pat through the slats. They may just go back to STTN on their own or they may need a little help. Good luck!

This exact same thing happened to us, it was awful. They both got a stomach bug in mid-Feb.; they had been STTN perfectly with only an occasional hiccup for about 4 months prior. Then, just as things started back to normal they got colds mid-March. ARGHH! It has only been in the last two weeks that they've been sttn once again since their first round of being sick...so in our case it took a good two weeks post-colds to return to 'normal'. The most frustrating part for us was that we were finally used to getting full night's sleeps ourselves--then it was like having newborns all over again!
